Freesat box EPG non-updating

I eventually got tired of waiting for the Grundig freesat box to update the EPG to include Five.

In the end I rescanned and its now on the EPG.

This was annoying since it seems that the only way to rescan is by effectively re-running the initial set up installation programme. While this only takes 5 minutes it also means that the non freesat channels are lost and you have to manually input the frequency info for the non freesat channels all over again (since you can't currently do a scan for non freesat channels), which probably take 30 minutes!

Given that a freesat box is supposed to update the EPG itself, supposedly the big plus of an EPG system over an ordinary FTA box, I was left fairly unimpressed.

The sooner Grundig/Bush/Alba get their software developers to release a software upgrade the better.

Not all boxes will be upgraded at the same time. It is the same with Sky. They dont ugrade every customers software at the same time. It is usually spread out over a few days.

My Grundig box updated itself with Five yesterday but it was a few hours later before the EPG was updated with program details.

Had you added Five as one of your FTA channels?

I had - and found that the EPG did not update properly - it just had renumbered the FTA channel to 105 - but left it in the FTA area of the EPG.

I was also forced to do a manual install.

Yes I have Five in the Non Freesat channel list for the last couple of weeks but deleted it around the 18th in the hope of avoiding any conflicts between the freesat and FTA menus.

I think that a few other channels have been added to the EPG in recent times without any issue.

Rescanning should only be a minor issue, but the fiddly way of adding the non Freesat channels at present is my biggest gripe.
