Redundancy...eek

I have just been offered redundancy... When I say offered I mean I have no real choice.

I will be finishing up in January but they will pay me a couple of months redundancy.

I have never had social welfare payments before and I am not sure what my best course of action is.

I am the sole earner with one dependent.

Can anyone offer me some advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

There’s an excellent FREE book you should pick up. I got mine at my local dole office. It’s called “Working for Work” – a handbook exploring options for unemployed people. It is published by the Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed

    www.inou.ie

It outlines your rights and entitlements with regard to your social welfare payments and secondary benefits. It also provides valuable information and advice on your options and opportunities in relation to looking for work and further education or training.

    Best of luck :)
