Ok so with the OH 4.5 years but no plans to get engaged or anything.
She does however want a diamond ring for xmas.

Now so far all I can see are engagement rings or rings that are coloured, my budget is proba about €500 for the ring and will be looking to match it up with a chain/pendant which I have no problem finding!

Now I need something that looks good but as were having Xmas with her very large family I need to make sure it doesn't look like an engagement ring!
Any ideas on where I could find such a ring??

You may be better off especially requesting an eternity ring, then if anyone questions what it is you can say an eternity or a promise ring. I had an eternity ring given as gift years ago and it had diamonds all the way around it, looked nothing like an engagement ring.

Why are you afraid it will look like an engagement ring? Just tell people it's not if they ask? I mean, is she planning to wear it on that finger? My boyfriend got me a ring recently and we were shown several ones with diamonds that I suppose could have been mistaken for engagment rings (what is the difference after all?).

Actually never thought that she'd be wearing it on th e other hand!
Its just she'll be receiving it in front of about 20 family members so they'll see the ring before she puts it on the correct hand so I dont want them getting the wrong idea!

OK, I obviously have a deviant personality trait that would result in my enjoyment in watching family members plan a wedding in their heads for 5 minutes before revealing it wasn't an engagement ring! :-)

They should sort of realise that if you are not the only one present at the time that if is sort of difficult to propose!

Maybe get something with a non-traditional design so it doesn't look like a diamond solitaire. One of my friends started wearing an eternity ring and it looks just like a wedding band.

This site does excellent, original designs that would set the ring apart from other engagements rings...http://www.raru.com/

My issue with all of this is that it's going to prompt people to think that you're engaged and then when you say you're not, they're going to be confused. I know it's not about other people, but do understand where there's going to be confusion. There will be drama and questions will arise.
