Hey there fellas, just looking for some advice on what wattage weber mass attenuator i should get that would do me for both my 40watt blues deluxe and 5 watt fender champion 600. Just been looking to get cracking tone while keeping it reasonably quiet, the blues deluxes is ridiculously loud for bedroom playing!! I've been looking at a 50 watt and a 100watt, but i'm a bit unsure as to what would be the best suited...
    Cheers!
    Alan.

P.S: Sorry for all these GAS gear related threads, it's pay day next week and i have far to many guitar related things on my wish list!

i have an ac 30,and like yours was way too loud for bedroom use.i got in touch with ted weber and he told me to get an attenuator that had about twice the capacity of my amp.he suggested for me the weber mini mass which is rated at 50watts,maybe the 100watts version might suit you better, althought he told me if i was not cranking my amp a lower wattage attenuator would do.i would get in touch with him and tell him the type of amp you have and he will recommend the best one..they are a great tool,i could not live without one, people say 'they suck tone' and they do but it allows to to crank it a little and reduce the overall volume.

I dunno john. I've heard other types of attenuators have a lot of tonesuckage, but i've heard nothing but good comments on the MASS!.

I'd get the 100w if i were you Alan. That way, you wont have to worry about whether or not your damaging your attenuator. And if you do decide to upgrade in the future to something more powerful (just if like ;)) you'll be covered!.

Thanks for the replies lads, wasn't sure i'd get any! Now, i'm completely new to these, having never used one before, but i've read online that if the wattage of the attenuator is too high above the wattage of the amp it ruins the tone, and since i have both a 40watt and a 5watt that i hope to use it with i was thinking the 50watt mini MASS from Ted Weber would be the right balance between the two, as there is nothing in between the 50watt and 100watt versions?

EDIT: Just reading the Ted Weber site, he seems to recommend the 100Watt for your typical 50watt valve amp. Seems i might need to go for the 100watt version!

i would not say it compleatly 'sucks your tone' but it does alter it,put it this way if i did not need to have it on the amp i would'nt.its kind of like the loudness button on a stereo amp,you never had it turned off.but there is an upside to it altering your 'tone' you get to crank it a lot more and play it more the way you are supposed to.there is also a treble booster on the mini mass, and it has 3 different impedence levels 4,8,16 omhs.some like the thd have only one.
