But you see thats just it. You don't have the pleasure of knowing what the long term effects of this is, because its so new. And according to the radio report this product has been seeking approval to become a licenced product since 2003, so it is currently being sold illegially!

once it was guaranteed safe there would be no stopping me. it would be great to not have to exfoliate and do layers of tan

I heard that on the radio to scary or what why would people inject something into there stomach that hadn’t even be approved by any country just fake it if people can go to the extremes of injecting themselves with god knows what then surely getting fake tan done once a week seems like the sane thing to do surely

This topic was covered on This morning, eh this morning!

A girl who used to be a nurse, now a beautician uses it and thinks it's great. There was also an expert from whichever body regulates these things and she strongly advised people not to use this until it is licensed. It can't be safe if it's taking so long to get the all clear. The beautician said she gets hot flushes and feels sick when she injects. Also, you have to inject yourself and some of the kits you need to mix the melantan with sterilised water. I think it's all a bit dodgy and for the sake of having a tan...

I am happy to be pale so no but tbh some people would do anything to get a tan so I can see this becoming popular. Disgusting imho!

Absolutely!! Totally disgusting and unnecessary!! I know we dont think twice about spraying stuff onto our skin, which contains chemicals too, but injecting yourself with a chemical that is supposed to give you a tan is unreal. Plus the woman talking about this on the radio was saying, that this product was originally created to ease the ill-effects of cancer and chemotherapy, but was abandoned because safer methods were discovered, ie: its too dangerous!!

No doubt the beauticians of boards would be horrified if this took off! I imagine a large income is derived from spray tans.

But there is no way I would take something before it was licenced, and I would not like to have to premix stuff before injecting it - a preformulated syringe, and an approved product would probably be OK for those who want it.
