I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread where we can share youtube clips of shots/catches/funny moments etc.

To embed the youtube vid in your post simply put the numbers/letters of the youtube link after the v= into youtube tags

I just watched that video and it looks to me like the umpires got the decision wrong. 26 seconds into the video (just before the keeper takes the bails off) Morton lifts his bat out of the crease and hits the ground. At this point, Chanderpaul is in the crease, and Morton is not.

Morton should have been given out!

I wouldn't envy the umpires with that decision, but their reasoning was this.

Chanderpaul had left his crease, only for him to go back into it, but not before Morton had gone to the non-strikers end.

Chanderpaul was run-out by virtue that Morton had got to the non-strikers end, i.e. Morton had completed his side of the bargain for the run. It doesn't matter about which bat is grounded at non-strikers end when the wicket is broken at the strikers end, Morton had touched his bat down, by decision of the umpire, before Chanderpaul.

I agree that that was their reasoning, but on this occasion they were wrong. If they had watched the entire incident in full, they should have given Morton out.

Morton touched his bat in before Chanderpaul. Morton was then occupying the crease at the non strikers. Chanderpaul then entered the crease, but as it was already occupied by Morton, Morton remains "in".

This is where the umpires stopped looking and gave Chanderpaul out.

Prior to the bails being removed, Morton vacated the crease at the non strikers end. This means that Chanderpaul, who was already in the crease, is now occupying the non strikers end, and is "in".

The bails were then removed without Chanderpaul leaving the crease at the non strikers end, therefore Morton should should be out.
