Does HDMI to DVI work for the PS3?

    Hey everyone,

so after my Xbox went RROD on me and I won't have it back for a few weeks, I finally decided to get a PS3... Pretty impressed so far (it doesn't sound like a hoover!) but since I don't have a TV at home, I was hoping to use it with my DELL 2405FPW monitor... I have an HDMI to DVI cable, hooked this up, powered up the PS3 and I'm getting that the monitor cannot display this mode - no image. I don't see any settings (when connected via composite) to change anything other than the 24Hz BD setting so I'm a bit stumped... Should this setup even work? If so, anyone have any clue what I may be doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

If the monitor doesn't support HDCP over DVI then you will get no image from your PS3.

You may also need to reset your PS3 settings. When PS3 is turned off, press and hold the power button on PS3 for 10 seconds until it beeps twice.

Yeah, I looked it up and I think HDCP is the problem - the monitor is the first gen. DELL 24" and I'm pretty sure it does not support HDCP. Damn copy protection crap .

Oh, well... would component work fine then? And if so, does any place in town sell the Sony one? I think Game does their own cheap brand one.
