I am going to make a guess that the Proxy or locked down ports are your problem, try putting the proxy address into your LAN Settings (proxy.dcu.ie port:8080), if that doesn't work give up!

Nah mate, none of the suggestions worked. I wouldn't recommend installing that proxy firewall, seems a bit dodge! Cheers anyway.

Sorry that was just ment to be a guide to finding the settings within MSN not to install the associated product. Should of just posted the extracts.

    Step #1
    Start up MSN
Configure MSN to use the proxy server by opening your the program to get it ready for these instructions.
(different versions of MSN may vary depending on newer/older options and versions)
Click on the Tools and then choose Options

    Step #2
    Click on Connection
Click on the Advanced Settings button

    Step #3
    1. Put a check in the box for SOCKS version 5
    2. Type in the proxy address in the Socks 5 Server: area proxy.dcu.ie
    3. Type in the proxy Port: 1080
    4. No username or password is required for the dcu Proxy

    Step #4
Click on the Test SOCKS 5 Connection button
Click on OK until you are back to the main MSN screen.
Restart your MSN and reconnect. It will now be using the socks 5 proxy.

Right tried that. Didn't work. Thanks a lot though.

I am using windows live messenger and it doesnt ask me to specify whether it's socks 4 or 5. Does that matter?
