    Hi

Anybody know the legality of the likes of a Chevy Nova or other street legal hot rods?

(ive been spending way too much time on Piston heads lately :D)

basically cars with the original body and chassis but which have been
tuned and modified for track days - but not as extreme as say a stripped out mk1 Escort rally car

In other words Do Insurers have strict rules to qualify for classic insurance?

I'm tempted to buy something just work on whenever I'm out in my uncles place

I'm only 21 so I have like another 4 years (I think  ) to qualify for classic insurance so I could do with something to keep me tipping away

Classic car insurance, terms and conditions (and prices) vary from one firm to the next but normally the 'intended' use of the vehicle is supposed to be for weekend pleasure. The policy is usually issued under the understanding that you have an exisitng 'everyday car' policy and that your classic is used only for a limited amount of milegae each year. Classic cars are nct exempt and tax is only fifty euro. I know a few lads that have taken their cars up the strip on occasion. If you're into this whole gig I recal coming across an Irish Hot Rod club somewhere before. Can't seem to find it online right now. Alternatively you should have a look at www.americanmusclecarsireland.net if you're more into muscle cars, e.g. Chevy Nova!
