Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

My god, the phrase ''a face for radio'' has never rung so true!!

One of them looks like the guy from Little Britain.

    LOL :pac:
No, sorry I should explain. I was at one of the recordings of this shows......I've posted on some other threads about it. I thought it might be saved with editing - I thought for a start it might be edited to a half an hour. But no, it's still bad imo.......but let's see, maybe it'll be to other peoples taste.

5 minutes too much for me. More of our licence money going to good use.

Like AMDublin, I too am in the position of having seen the tragedy unfold during the recording sessions. So, personally, having seen 3 hours of raw material, and 15 minutes of the "polished" show, I can say with some degree of certainty that I personally feel its a complete tupperware bowl of runny dogshyte.

Colm and Jim are many things, but "The Irish Ant and Dec" will not be going on the oul CV on the basis of this show.

Very poor indeed. Typical non-existent Rté production values, stilted conversations with the guests and embarrassingly bad comedy VT inserts.

Combine that with "funky" "youth" orientated camerawork (think funny angles, wobbly frames, and psychedelic backdrops circa Chris Evans heyday) which are just succeeding in making me seasick, and I think I'll pop back to the Simpsons on Sky one.

    I lasted about 1 minute
    felt ill

    "Drop the prop"?

take bits from shows people like and cheaply push them all together
in a stilted poorly presented fashion

Should call it "Colm & Jim Jims Shooting sh*te"

Awful cheap tacky ****e - so a typical RTE production then.

Plus as already noted above these guys should stick to radio - the move to RTE just isn't working out imo

This tripe from the national broadcaster.

What would happen if the BBC produced something of this nature?

Absolutely nothing.... until the next morning it would be in the paper and 20,000 complaints ensue.

Ah the little summary of the winners at the end. That's a little addition I was not aware of.

Oh the shame. I have a bad feeling I am in a lot of the audience shots of the recording I went to.

It's a bad program. It's a scandal that our licence money has paid for this rubbish.

Comon now; we all saw you! You had a great time, all the audience were having a great time:o:D

Any chance this could cost them their radio show?
Never listened to it but its pretty obvious that they deserve the dole queue!:D

I was nervous enough in the first two minutes when I saw Colm's shirt, but it went from bad to worse.

I couldn't make head nor tail of what was going on. Reminded me very much of some of the G Ryan tv disasters over the years.

Sad thing is RTE will probably pick it up for a second season.

Jesus wept. Talk about overkill on the cross plugging:

    End of programme :

Colm :"Dont Forget we're back with more of this sh*t next Sunday, and dont forget to tune in to our Aural sh*t every morning between 6 and 9 on rte 2fm. Bye"

    20 seconds later

    Rte continuity announcer
: "Dont Forget that Colm and Jim Jim are back with more of this sh*t next Sunday, and don't forget to tune in to their Aural sh*t every morning between 6 and 9 on rte 2fm."

I know they're probably committed to showing next weeks episode, but surely if enough complaints are received about it's quality, they'll have to drop it.

Seeing as it certainly doesnt qualify as entertainment, what's the best Department in rte to refer this to?

In fairness I listened to them when they were on FM104 and they were really good imo.

Not exactly a coin flip at the moment with RTE output:o

No doubt someone will come on saying they found it quite funny and such and such a person was hilarious. Usually the people from the show themselves or their family and friends.

Can I just say to those people, DON'T BOTHER! This is a tsunami of sh**e

Yes without a doubt, they were class in the FM104 days used to be crying laughing in the mornings at them - before RTE got there hooks in, now its like they are making sure there conversations are PC the whole time or something and are boring as hell.

    Dublins 98 breakfast crew FTW..

Wiping the sick from my mouth, I flicked over after the first 5mins.
I can still taste it in my mouth. A tsunami of sh**e indeed.

I can't wait for the second season already....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 163 ✭✭Echelle

As someone else put it " a tsunami of ****e" indeed. What a load of rubbish. Can you imagine the meeting with the RTE bosses when they were trying to sell the idea.. "Well, we,ve got this great idea , you see, involving toilet rolls, maltersers, elastic bands and spaghetti..." and the bosses fell for it.
This talentless pair of twits have been polluting the radio waves with their stupid jingles and unfunny prank phone calls for far too long and now we have to watch them as well and they are not an attractive sight.Hopefully this show will go down the tubes and bring the radio show with it.
This is national tv and radio we are talking about, let them skive off back to independent radio/tv if anyone would have them back.

    I watched all of it.

    Absolutely appalling stuff.

That Jim Jim [did his parents have a stammer?] character has got to be one of the most obnoxious and ignorant people I've ever seen on television. A truly hateful person.

I hope the backlash from this crap derails their radio careers and they end up on the dole.

He's so fat he needs two names.

Seriously though I saw the first half and I had to make it stop. I swear to god, it made my mother ill. Anyone who enjoys this sh!t should have the vote taken away from them.

I've just heard an interview with Colm Hayes where he raves about how original the show is. There you have it, kids - Steal enough ideas from Noels House Party, Shooting Stars, Murphy's Micro Quiz-m, Gerry bastard Ryan's Secrets, The Late Late Breakfast show & Ant & Dec's Saturday night takeaway, and you too can lie convincingly about how original you are on the state broadcasting channel. The cheap shoddy props left over from winning streak are a nice touch too.

I've never felt compelled to email Rté before, but this crap was absolutely offensive to the senses. Bad idea, bad technology, bad production, bad visuals , bad music and bad presenters. A thorough waste of the licence fee.

Regarding who we should complain about this tripe to, I've had a look, and I'm going with a polite but truthful missive to entertainment@rte.ie , and cc'ing it to info@rte.ie. This weeping sore on the arse of Irish broadcasting must be stopped before anyone from Europe or America sees it , and thinks that these two gonks are representative of Irish humour and behaviour in general.

Used to listen to 10 minutes of these guys every morning when they were on FM104 they were reasonably bearable even though most of their ideas were robbed from radio 1, anyway didn't see the show but to try make the thread a little more positive there are lots of glowing reviews on bebo, http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MemberId=3519039922
(I am sure that any possible bad comments would be left up there !)

Recorded the show on sky+ and sat down with the missus to watch it, after about 5 minutes we were both looking at each other saying "WTF is this...?" and switched it off.

Shame really, but I look forward to Friday when hopefully I'll be hearing Duggy Highlife ripping the p*ss out of it. :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,269 ✭✭✭cabrwab

Switched over and said to myself "jesus that guy from little britian, has fallen really far, working for RTE WTF?" then realised that it was the worst game show thing id seen, i lasted five mins. It was a giant steaming pile of S*ite.

sat down to watch it with my 6 year old daughter a few minutes into it she turns around to me and says "daddy who are those stupid people"

What oppinion did you form after watching the whole thing?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,909 ✭✭✭✭Wertz

so you usually form opinions on things after 5 mins??

Yes, but in the case of this show I'm willing to make an exception and just slate it long before it was ever threatened that I might land eyes on it...

Time for an RTÉ tribunal...no-one can continue to be this crap whilst dipping their hands in our collective pockets...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,393 ✭✭✭Climate Expert

Just a little note for some people here. Colm and JimJim were never funny on FM104.

They peddle the worst kind of lowest common denominator tripe. Made to appeal to 20 year hairdressesr from Crumlin.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,909 ✭✭✭✭Wertz

Just a little note for some people here. Colm and JimJim were never funny on FM104.

That's as maybe but they were head, shoulders, torso and feet above what they became when RTÉ got a hold of them. I used listen to 104 breakfast when I happened to be working in Dublin, solely because it was far and away the best of a bad bunch of available show...the move to 2FM was a bad move, the little bit of whatever they had on 104 was lost...they were listenable on 104, but I find them intolerable on 2FM and simply unwatchable on the telly...

Was at a wedding over the weekend and sitting in the bar yesterday evening a number of us watched in horror as this travesty was broadcast. RTE should be ashamed of themselves, pumping money into such an outdated, cliche filled mess.
