Did any of you hear the interview of Fachna Murphy on RTE Radio by Marian Finucane?
I couldn't believe how unprofessional Marian was, with her constant interuptions. She didn't let Fachna answer half the questions she asked, before she very rudely interupted again.

On surveillance Marion asked if an Garda Siochána "tapped" peoples homes. Fachna answered that surveillance was carried out and he wasn't going to go into the specifics. But she pressed him like a child "But do you?" But do you tap peoples homes?"

I felt she harassed him regarding issues in Donegal. He attempted to answer her questions regarding this and yet again she constantly interupted him, pushing her opinion on him. Yes we are all entitled to our opinions but not to voice them the way Marian Finucane did.

It was actually quite annoying listening to her. Fair play to Fachna Murphy for keeping a cool professional manner.

You can download podcasts from the RTE website, but I've just checked and the Marian Finucane podcasts don not appear up to date. You could have a look around the site, I may be missing something.

Marian Finucane is doin' amazing in the ratings though, her sunday and midweek shows. They both increased by 20000 or something, way way ahead of the rest.

The programme is on there now. Just go here and click on Saturday under the picture of Marianne.

Have to say she was a bit annoying by constantly butting in. Fair play to Facthna for keeping a cool head and giving good answers.

See about 9.30minutes in you can hear Marianne slurping her tea!!!:pac:

If it wasn't then judging by the interview she wasn't impressed.

I think also when you're interviewing someone with such a colourful and interesting career history you can come up with better questions than 'is it hard to watch criminals escape prosecution on technacalities.' She could have had a fantastic interview with him, but she asked such basic questions. Was the Garda Commissioner really going to say criminals slipping through the net due to imperfect cases was the reason he got up in the morning? She wasted this opportunity imo.

Having just listened to the interview,my impression is that she harbours contempt for AGS and managed to hide it behind a thin veneer of broadcasting civility which occassionally cracked. To me the cracks appeared when the events in Donegal were being discussed.

She said that the Gardai had lied in the Morris Tribunal, giving the impression that all had done so.As far as I am aware that was not the case,so she either she had her facts very wrong which is not acceptable in a presenter who is paid such a high salary from the licence payer or she was deliberately trying to stir up contempt for AGS,which is unacceptable behaviour from a Public Service Broadcaster.

When Commissioner Murphy began to speak of his support for the Gardai who are honest and hardworking in Donegal and who are being confronted by some locals with the stigma of the affair she retorted with the word 'justifiably'. No, it is no more justifiable to do that to innocent Gardai than it is to do so to an innocent shop assistant, factory worker, nurse, doctor or even R.T.E. broadcaster for bad behaviour by some people who do the same job as they do.

When the Commissioner raised the subject of a two way street regarding the Ombudsman and malicious complaints, there was no discussion as again I feel, anything that could be seen to support the innocent members of AGS wasn't on her agenda. The Commissioner was very cool and professional.Unfortunately, the same could not be said of the interviewer.
