There is talk of reducing the bottle from .8mg to .5mg for all motorists and down to just .2MG limit for learner drivers, those operating PSV's and truck drivers.

Is this limit too low? Ie would it put you over the limit after taking a glass of wine with the missus on a night out?

This will bring our limits into line with much of continental Europe but its not the lowest, some countries have a zero limit

    Here is the list.

0.0 per mg – Estonia, Lithuania, Malta, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary
0.2 per mg – Norway, Poland, Sweden
0.5 per mg - Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany (Germany is 0.3 if you’re in an accident), Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Serbia/Montenegro, Croatia, Latvia, Macedonia, Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, Cyprus (North)
0.8 per mg – U.K., Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Switzerland
    0.9 Cyprus (South)

I don't get it. Stop bombarding me with your statistics.

99% of statistics are made up you know?

This won't make a blind bit of difference. I heard a pathologist on newstalk a few months ago, who dealt with a lot of crash victims in the north and said 0.5mg -> 0.8mg are not the levels of alcohol in the driver of drink driving cases. He said the average was triple this, around 2.4mg . My opinion on this would be to properly enforce current laws, not change them just to appear as being pro-active.

Well I'd support this change. The way it should be is: if you're going to drive, don't drink alcohol. No other way about it. It doesn't matter about the "average" or "majority" if one drink of alcohol can still affect your driving.

Alcohol stays in your blood for many hours after having had your last drink, even if you've had a sleep. So they should change their slogan to "Never Drink 2days before you're going to Drive"

    That's what cocaine is for.

Not to completely miss the point of the thread but Malta is in it twice.

Edit: I don't drink at all so I'm not strictly concerned by the change in limits. I've a supsicion however that a more vigorous enforcement of the current limits would be more of a deterant than reducing the limit.

yet further proof if needed that all RTDH's posts are false and made up.
