    Hello everyone.

    I am considering buying a new pc. I have no idea where to start or what to look for. I would like something with a good graphics card for gaming but at an affordable price. I have 700 euro for one, would this be enough to get me a good computer?. Any suggestions on some good makes etc would be much appreciated.:)

    quick and simple list, I assume you have a kb, mouse and monitor already !

    Intel Q6600
    Ati 4850/4870
    Random motherboard, its not all that important to behonest if you want a simple pc.
    Decent 500W+ branded psu , this is very important
    4gb generic ram, grucial or something similar like kingston.
    If you can scavange a few hdd's from yoru old machine great, it not get a 500gb spinpoint from samsung.

    To be honest, check the building & upgrading forum linked under my pictuer on the left, lots of similar threads to yours there.

    700 squids for a gaming rig...hmmm...might be asking a lil too much of your budget there buddy. exactly what level of gaming would you be hoping to achieve?? maybe list off a few games you would be looking to play...

    id check adverts section for some bargains.
    and a 500w psu is a bit low for rigs these days.
    700w branded psu at least.
    4gb of ram is not needed if using vista 32bit or xp 32bit also as it only sees 3gb.

    Cheap motherboard for around 140 euros max.
    Im sure ull find cheap second hand ram around around 100euros max for 3GB.
    500GB Western digital caviar sata hdd is only 60 euro on komplett.
    Definatley buy a second hand gfx card,it will save u a bit of money.
    Q6600 cpu is a must, this is sweet to overclock (most expensive part).
    The Antec 900 case is cheap on komplett. (95 euros) Best cheap case there is.

    Id say 500 euro or so should get u a decent machine.

    he's gona need to spend 2 - 300 squids on a GFX card if he wants to do some serious gaming though...

    AMD 4850 is as cheap as €145.

    4850's good, but if ur going for a second hand card get a geforce 8800gtx. still plays all games with good fps and will for another year.

    nvidia broke my trust, and the 8800 line is Infected. Get a first hand 4850 and save yourself the headache: it benchmarks right up there with the GTX 260 for a fraction of the cost.

    The exchange rate in the Uk is favourable at the moment so i'm considering ordering one from there. What are your thoughts on this.

    The games that i would be hoping to play is
    Tomb Raider Underworld
    Gears of war 2
    Pes 09...that's just a few...

    My brother has a decent dell computer which runs the TR underworld demo pretty well. It cost him 620 euro.
