    Hi guys.

Im off on a golfing trip to spain for the first time in feb :) and on the lookout for a decent travel cover for my golf bag. Just wondering if anyone would recommend a particular cover/bag which would keep my clubs safe while in transit. I would prefare something that can be locked ideally.
    Thanks in advance.

The tip i got from alot of people when i bought mine was not to buy a marked name, i.e. a titleist etc. Apparently they're far more likely to missing.

if your travelling with aer lingus you may aswell buy or rent a set of clubs over there, the charge 90 bucks and no guarntee that they will arrive?? mine did this time but it was full of cheap fags and booze on return.

Thanks guys. Im getting the clubs across for 60E with ryanair so I suppose thats not too bad. Is it realy that common for clubs to go missing in transit?

I'm saying touch wood as i write this, but i've carried mine over and backto the UK on countless occasions with Aer Lingus/Ryanair and never had a bother.

I wouldn't say it matters if branded or not as the people who work in the airport will know if it contains golf clubs as they see them everyday.

Also they get check in via oversize luggage.

End of the day if someone wants to rob your clubs they will.

I suppose you are right.......anyone who realy wants them will take them regardless of the bag they are in. It would be a total nightmare to arrive in spain for a weeks golf and find your clubs have gone awol.
I suppose its get a decent travel cover and wrap them up and hope for the best...... I know they are insured but I still wouldnt want to loose them and have to get replacements.

I have an Odyssey travel cover which I find quite good but my wife got the RAM branded one in Argos for about €60, if memory serves, and it's huge! The padding in it is quite good also and for the money it's about as good as you'll get. You can put quite a bit of your clothes in the bag, which will double as protection for the clubs and will save on baggage weight charges coming home!A little advise for you as well, I'd take a carry bag instead of a trolley bag if you have one as they are quite a bit lighter and it helps when trying to manoeuvre around the airport. The best of the best if that's what your after seems to be the Club Glove bags. I've seen an online retailer in England selling a Titleist branded one for about £145 a few weeks back but I can't remember the site off the top of my head but i thought that was very good value as they are usually about $300+ in the states and with the exchange rates at the minute it wouldn't be a bad investment but then you run into the problems that some of the previous posters were talking about as it might attract a little unwanted attention. I'll try and find the site and post it later.

I bought a travel bag from OGIO - savage thing altogether.
Loads of room, wheels, string material.
    Def recommend.

On another note the golf bags from Ogio are the business as well.
    Winning loads of awards.

Thanks for the suggestion. Ive read good things about Ogio bags before. I wonder if there is a supplier in Ireland or the UK to order from?
Will have a look I think.

    Def recommend.
I am due a golf bag upgrade and will be going with these guys.
The quality and functionality is far better then the traditional Callaway, titlest etc.

Have a look on www.ogio.com - has links to online dealers.

I know Green18 in the beacon sell the golf bags but not 100% about the travel bags, could be worth a look. Although you will prob get it cheaper online, especially when your not heading off until Feb.

Ogio golf bags get good reviews alright and are very popular in america. I found a review on one of their travel bags here........http://thesandtrap.com/accessories/ogio_straight_jacket_travel_bag_review

It looks good.......might have a look for one on fleabay.:D

Right with two trips this year, might be time to invest. Travelled last year with your bog standard one, that had a couple of milimetres of padding in places.

The hard case ones seem the most robust http://www.golf-store.co.uk/customer/product.php?productid=13744

    looks robust!

but the titleist one looks good too. Big bucks for something used once or twice a year though

    OP,

Slightly OT, but be careful where you leave your sticks when finished your round of golf. A few of the lads in my local went to Puerto Banus(?) area. Four or five of them had the clubs nicked while they were in the clubhouse having a cup of tea! Clubs, trollies, even shoes were bundled into the back of a transit.

Thankfully the insurance paid up :D
