It's time to upgrade to a proper printer.

I am fairly happy to stay with Epson, but want to move up to A3+ as well as something that will actually print Black.

Reading the reviews it seems that the R2880 is the way to go.

Who has one & what do you think of it?

Where is the best place to get one?

Would like to get it profiled too.

Have just been told that, if you can affird the extra outlay, the R3800 is better value in the long run. It does bigger prints (I don't need that) & has 80ml cartridges instead of the 12ml ones.

the 2880 uses the same inks as the 4880 and above

the 3800 uses the ones without the vivid magenta

    BUT

the cost per print is massively less. if you look at the 12/13ml ones from the 2880 at about 15 each and the 80 ml ones for the 3800 at about 60 you can see the cost saving. it doesnt make sense if your not doing a lot of prints though

as for getting one, go to sheldonphoto in malahide, he is an epson dealer. and although you can shop around online etc. something like this you want the support of someone near, so it worth going local.

as for profiling, every printer from epson form 2400 upwards is individually calibrated in the factiory so for most papers with manufacturers profiles you wil be ok

I was on to Sheldonphoto. They seem to give good support.

The 3800 would make sense if I were to be printing a lot, but for the quantity I am doing it's hard to justify the extra outlay. Just have to call back tomorrow & see about a price.

it pays to shop local from specialist suppliers when it comes to stuff like printers. it is worth the extra for the support you get.
