    Just a few suggestions:
    Maybe start @ 25-50 blinds
Also there are late starts on the Sat @ 5pm and Sunday @ 7pm is way too late. Why not finish earlier and start earlier - for people (me incl.) that are playing this, its a long day waiting around when youre staying in the hotel

    I've made some changes there:
Day 2's start time will be largely dependant on how early we get to finish on the Friday, i'd rather start back at 3pm, but a lot of people work saturdays this close to Christmas so i had said 4pm, i'd like this to still be the case.
And you are totally right about the Sunday, if I can get down to 20/30 players by 3am Saturday nite/sunday morning, i will bring them back for about 4pm on the Sunday also.
The blinds will however start at 50/100 i find the 25/50 level is largely a waste of time imo, i can give more play later on if i remove this level. Remember that players availing of the top up option (i.e. most of the field) will have $26,000 in chips on average at the start of level 4 (10.30pm friday night) at which time the blinds are $200/$400 (that 65 times the big blind!)

Mick, Is there a special rate for the Crover House Hotel for the w/e? Are there any other hotels/guest houses you know of in the area?

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 713 ✭✭✭Mr. Wolf

The 'wedding rate' we have been offered by Crover House is €160 per person for 2 nights b&b with an afternoon meal, other hotels in the area include the Oldcastle House hotel and there is a b n'b near us, if you ring the Crover House on 0498540356 and speak to Michele she will give you a full list of options.

There were 53 players in attendance in The Meadowview Inn in Cavan yesterday which generated a €5,600 prize-pool. With 11 players left a deal was done to take €200 off first and €100 off 2nd to give a €300 ticket to the bubble. This honour went to Darren Monaghan who got his queens cracked by eights to leave us with 10.
The next 4 players out each received Cavan Open tickets or €300 cash if they already had one.
These were James Cole, Kathleen Gumley (who had earlier won the €100 best hand prize) Mickey Mick and Alan Mc Nerney. 5th and 6th in the tournament each received a ticket plus €100, Jack Kelly and Pat Clarke both fell at this hurdle and as both already had tickets they both took €400 cash instead.
Darrin Flint went out 4th taking €500 and 3 way action saw a chop between Peter Gillick, Mark Rayburn and Trevor Simpson. They each took €600 plus their Cavan Open tickets.
Well done all who cashed and thanks to all who played.

Still some places left here, e-mail me on mick@cavanpoker or ring/text me on 086-2205111 to reserve your seat.
This is THE value game of December if not the year. with a capacity crowd with top ups we have €92,500 in the prize-pool. (courtesy of €2,500 added by BrucePoker)
Bearing in mind that this game is NOT €1,000 (including 10% reg?) or even €500+€50. Its a maximum spend of €500 everything (reg and top up included) there is from what i've seen no better value tournament in the country to compete with this.
So congratulations to those of you who have already secured your tickets and we'll see you all on the 5th.

With 3 more tickets booked last night we are now at 120 tickets out with 40 more players having booked their places who will all have paid before the night.
I now officially and categorically declare that if we have less than 160 players at this event I will eat my socks!!!

My prop bet looks sound, we will have at least 160 players and i won't be eating my socks this weekend... now keep the bookings coming in and we could hit the 200 mark

Just to clarify the tourney/blind structure:

The tournament starts at 8pm Friday 5th, there is a bonus chip up until this time so players start with $11,000, the 1 re-buy or top up gets $15,000. So after the break (level 4) with blinds at 200/400, the average stack is $26,000 (assuming no one is gone)
Thats about 65 times the big blind.

    From 8pm:
    3 x 40 minute blind levels (50/100, 100/200, 150/300)
30 minute Break and top up.
    6 x 45 minute blinds (200/400, 300/600, 400/800, 500/1000, 600/1200, 800/1500)
Play stops for the night (somewhere between 3.30 and 4am with apx 80-100 players left)
    Day 2 starts at 4pm
Hour long blinds for the duration of the tournament.
Antes introduced at 7pm on the Saturday.
If necessary the cash places (hopefully top 20) will be brought back on the Sunday. This will be confirmed before close of play on the Friday night and is dependant on the total number of players starting.

Guaranteed first prize is €25,000, as it stands now the final table payout looks something like this:
    €25k
    €10k
    €6k
    €4k
    €3,500
    €3,000
    €2,500
    €2,000
    €1,500
    €1,000

€58,500 total (this is based on 130 players all of whom top up, which is the minimum at this stage)

There are still quite a few more players I am expecting to register before Friday. I still hope to pay top 20 places and chunk up 2nd, 3rd and 4th place prize on the final table.

To book your place before Friday e-mail me at mick@cavanpoker.com or ring me on 086-2205111
    Ta

The Crover House Hotel Mount Nugent is about a 1 hour and 10 minute drive from Dublin, drive through Navan, turn off at Kells for Oldcastle, drive through Oldcastle for Mount Nugent and its on your left hand side after you pass through Mount Nugent.
