PS3 what game to buy?

Am planning on getting a PS3 for christmas. Am mostly getting it for the blu-ray player but want to get a few good games for it. what do you guys suggest. Am a big fan of FPS's Halo, Doom etc.
Have seen nothing that has really impressed me for a machine with so much power!

FPS-wise, you have a few options. Call of Duty 4 is almost a year old at this stage but is still one of the best multiplayer games on the PS3. The new version is coming out but I haven't heard anything good about it yet.

Bioshock is a must for its story. Far Cry 2 is also very engrossing. Try Mirror's Edge for something different. Also Resistance 2 has just been released so definitely try that.

If you feel like stepping away from FPSs, Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Ratchet and Clank are very enjoyable.

I got Drakes Fortune last week, but am now wondering whether to get MGS or LBP, any idea which to choose?

Gameplay-wise, MGS is closer to Drake's, with its over-the-shoulder shooting. However, LBP is a stellar game. It really is personal perference, though I think MGS would probably be seen as the 'safe' option.

If the OP likes Doom3 then Deadspace is a must for the similar though better storyline imo. Brilliant game.
