media extender error

    I have a HP pavillion dv9088ea running XP, media center edition 2005 SP3, update rollup 2.

    Laptop is on the network wirelessly.
    Xbox360 is wired.

    I've tried to set it up with xbox360, no probs on the xbox side but when I go to www.xbox.com/pcsetup and I try to run the downloaded software it starts ok but then tells me "Setup Error, uninstall the Media center update & re-install from the media center website & run again".

    Thing is when I looked for the update in Add&Remove Prog, it's not there. Yeah I have "show updates" ticked.

    Can anyone shed some light please. I'm at it a while now and lost, what am I doin wrong or do I need to give more info to get help.
