Cardiovascular exercise

Hi. I've a bit of a problem lately. I'm having problems breathing! Yes, well, I am 24 year's old and in good physical shape (atleast on the outside) being slim and all that, but I think my heart is in a jocker. Even though I am not tired, I find myself having to yawn constantly. And when I yawn, I can't seem to get the yawn through - I can't get in the air. It's really frustrating. I'll having to stop whatever I'm doing and try catch my breath. It would be fine except I'm doing it in work and I look like A) I'm up all night or B) I'm up all night doing heaps of drugs or somefink.

I talked to my sister about this, she mentioned that I might not have enough oxygen in my blood and I thought well maybe I should do some exercise? I'm going to start going swimming in awhile, but are there any other things I could do to start getting my ticker back to proper working order?

I have seen Doctor about this by the way, and they've told me that it was down to anxiety but I'm really not stressed out :/ help!

Maybe you should go and get your VO2 Max measured. It's a measure of how much oxygen can be absorbed by your body, or the efficienct of your cardiovascular system (heart + lungs).
Were you ever a smoker? I used to smoke, and at times it can feel like i'm not getting enough air into my lungs or something. It could just be paranoia with me though.

The drugs comment began: I look like Im.... :)

Is this yawning accompanied by tiredness, like the midafternoon slump people often get?

Did the doc check your vitamin B12 levels? Low levels can cause you to yawn all the time (people who are deficient tend to sigh all the time) as you need it to carry oxygen in your blood.

I used to feel something similar about 2 years ago: rings under eyes & tired for no reason.

I copped on and realised my diet was rubbish and I was not exercising.

It was one of those eye opening moments when I kinda realised I wasn't immortal, wasn't going to live forever, and there were consequences to treating my body like a toilet not a temple.

So, perhaps it is as simple as having to sort out your diet and get exercising. Maybe it is not.. but hope that will get you thinking and perhaps help.

How in the name of Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea did you make the link between this and you having heart problems?

The doc sounded right to me this is in your head.

The fact that you've linked this to your heart shows you are feeling some kind of hypochondria related anxiety over it and yawning by its very nature is stimulated by thinking about yawning. (I yawned typing this ffs!)

This isn't a medical forum but there is no disease symptomized by "unsatisfactory yawns" you may simply be becoming anxious every time you yawn because you're examining it to check if it's right or not.

Egad. Thanks lads (and ladies). I am sure this isn't related to my mental state. I have tried doing simple exercises like bending and touching my toes, swinging my arms about, anything to get the blood flowing whenever I feel the 'yawns' coming on, and they have seemed to stop! So I'll see how this goes. If it comes back, then yeah....maybe I am crazy. I'm not doing drugs though, so I can't attribute it to that and don't smoke either.
