Lads, heading up to the rugby on Saturday and was wondering about the time it takes getting to Croke Park from Heuston. Getting in from Galway at 4.03pm and the game starts at 5.15pm, realisticly what time can I expect to in my seat (Hogan stand).

    Any advise appreciated.........

The GAA season is over, there are no GAA games in Croker. But if you want to watch a load of Maori's chase an oblong shaped piece of leather in the finest stadium in Ireland who am I to argue:pac:. From Heuston it is about 12-15 minutes to Connolly Station on the Luas and from Connolly station it is about 15-20 minutes walk to Croker. So you should be in your seat in time for the Haka and the national anthems.

    Good luck.

I certainly wouldn't be taking it easy thats for sure. You won't miss the kick off or anything, but don't delay while making the journey and you should be at Croker by 5.

    you been in dublin before?

i assume youll get a taxi if you dont know your way. most of the rugby crowd wont know there way past the liffey, so they will all be in taxis too, without traffic, heuston to croker is 10 mins, but with traffic will prob take 25 and cost about €15, which im sure all ye rugby folk can afford, even in this tough economic times.

ah hour to get to croker from heuston is plenty. but, seen as your getting the train, dont be surprised if 4.03, becomes 5.03 to be honest.

Ah Galway to Croke Park is fine. I have to get from Glasgow, did it a few times during the summer and a few times for the rugby, always made it but been tight a few times.

get the luas outside heuston as far as connolly station and then walk from there - its a brisk 10 minute walk to croker from connolly - forget the taxi, on a big match day you might get caught in traffic in a taxi , so for me the other way makes more sense.

    enjoy the game.

The Key here is to go into the game with a rake of Dub's because even if your late they'll postpone the game for 15mins for you! Handy or what!!

Ah, I thought it was funny anyway!:D

To answer the op's question, even though he'll already be on the train, get the Luas from Heuston to Connolly, walk up Amiens Street and take a left up either Buckingham Street or Portland Row. Then just follow the crowd.
