Aging animals using teeth

Sorry if this is a bit of an odd post but i'm wondering if there is any way you can estimate the age of a animal using its teeth? I know you can section teeth to count the rings and you can xray the pulp cavity although that has limited success, but has anybody got any other ideas about how i'd age some teeth?

I was looking for something to help you with, googled "aging animal teeth" - there's too much there to summarise :)
