    Hi Guys,

It's weird that I am on this forum as I have always been a sceptic. But my recent stay at Old Ground Hotel in Ennis made me think. I think the room I stayed in might have been haunted (still cant believe I am saying that) and I must say i was leaving the hotel scared sh*tless. Was wondering if anybody had what they think might have been a paranormal experience in that hotel?

Ennis was voted one of the most haunted places in Ireland and the Old Ground Hotel was voted very much haunted.

A litte history of the hotel

The original part of the Old Ground was built in the early part of the eighteenth century adjacent to Jail Street. Next door to the Old Ground was the Town Hall, which incorporated a jail.

In former times there was a bridge leading from an upper window of the Town Hall across the street to an exercise ground for the prisoners. The Jail was used more as a depot where prisoners were kept while awaiting deportation to Australia and Tasmania.

It is not known exactly when the Jail ceased being used for that purpose. Afterwards the Grand Jury, who held the Jail on the payment of a shilling, gave it to another department in the then Government. It had been intended to open it as a Library, but it was, in fact, acquired by the Grand Jury once more.

Here is something from Ebay to show there are certainly ghosts in Ireland but clearly some ghosts have no taste

WOW! Now I am really intrigued, did not realise the place has such a great history! I will research it and maybe, if I am lucky, i will find out out more about the man I saw in my room. Thanks qf!
On oh yeah, I stayed in the apartment type (two rooms but no door between them) and the TV in the living room switchen on twice without me even being there and the remote lying next to me! I got really freaked out, because it is one thing if you think you touched the remote by accident or something and the other if it goes on like that twice!!!! I think, now am not entirely sure, but I might have heard somewhere that spirits can affect tvs, radios, mobiles etc. ( well i know they are in the movies, but not sure if there is a real evidence of this)

Of course there's no real evidence!

So the TV turned on? Maybe the guy in the next room was watching TV and his remote effected yours?

I've stayed there a few times. Lovely hotel but I didn't notice anything strange. I may have reason to stay there again soon so I'll keep my spidey senses honed for unusual goings on:cool:
