They will work over here, unless its the new DSi which is region locked

DS lite is region free so games are no problem, but you might need an adaptor for the charger. They are pretty cheap though :)

Would be interested in seeing what price it works out at, if you dont mind telling. Its just curiosity on my part :P

language change is easy, the shop could do it there too, but it is simple.

    ds charger here http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3650
or just get an adaptor http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2709

and may as well get one of these http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10401

If you are worried about fakes or not working, then go to the fortress chain of stores, like a currys/dixons in China. I have Chinese colleagues who brought me there, they are in hong kong airport and cheaper than the duty free, since it is really duty free anyway, they have stores all over China too I think. I got a camera in fortress, special world edition with all plugs etc, the guy took it out and tested it, taking snaps etc. You get free stuff thrown in maybe, not really a haggling shop.

Also I wanted a sony camera for somebody, some shops had worldwide warranties some did not and told you up front if you asked, some even said it without asking. I found everybody very honest there.

In other stores you could haggle more than fortress, they give you a calculator with a price, and you minus some off and hand it back, techno-haggling!

There were 2 of us, a good tactic was my mate would ask a price, then turn to me, I would go "hmm, thats about 80 euros, it is actually cheaper to buy it on the internet, it is only 60euro on the internet". If they did not drop that low you can just walk off, they often call you back.

Yes, most shops speak english, esp. big ones like that.

I just checked and fortress looks like it is only in Hong Kong, dunno about the mainland
    http://www.fortress.com.hk/fortress/jsp/sys/Sf_render.jsp?hf_s_id=FT11&hf_srv_id=Pv_fcu_home&hf_rand=188305611&hf_locale_id=en

In any big cities there are lots of decent shops, better than here too. There are also not much difference in prices between them (the shops or markets), so avoid the backstreets. A DS price should be pretty fixed anyway.

Just checked fortress though, it was HKD1299 which is €134 on xe, so probably more like 140-145 after C/C charges. Not a good deal at all, might be cheaper on the mainland
