    Hey
I currently earn approx €27k in retail managment . I heard of a merchandiser vacancy in Monsoon/Accessorize . Has anyone ever worked for this company? Am I being over optimistic in thinking they pay more than 27k?
    thanks

My girlfriend is in the merchandiser line of work. Where she works, managers and merchandisers earn the same pay.

My housemate works in merchandising for a large department store and just scrapes above minimum wage an hour. They don't really have the same level of responsibility do they - management and merchandising. Unless you were the merchandising manager I suppose?

Yep, worked with them for a couple of years in two different locations in management postions. In general their an alrite company to work for. One store I worked with I enjoyed it, the other was a f"cking nightmare, but that was simply down to two other members management who were dying to cut each other throats to get ahead. Their regional manager is a total control freak, and one of these women who over compensates her lack of management skills with an aggressive attitude. You will have some contact with this person in that role. The regional audit manager is fantastic and although you wont have much contact with her, she's an exceptional fair person, and will always be there for support if you need it. If you tell me what store the position is in, I may be able to let ya know what the place is like to work in, most people I worked with are still there and I've kept in contact. In my role with them I often floated to a number of different stores, mainly city centre and south side.

I think the merchandisers in the Dundrum/Grafton St stores were on about €25K/€26K at the time which would have been a couple of years ago. The hours were usually 8am to 4.30pm.
