As far as I know, the main benefits are getting a customised avatar, being able to change your name, and access forums like Sex and Sexuality.

No, its optional and the admins have never pushed anyone to give. Despite that many regular users still subscribe because they want to give something back.

Yes, there are benefits to subscribing. But I prefer enjoying the main benefit of non-subscribing - not having to pay for a subscription.

Having said that, I've thought about it and might do at some point. (Custom avatar would be nice....)

How about:

Exactly, it's all leading to a classic catch-22 situation, hence it's simply impossible for me to consider subscribing. Even thinking about it and knowing I can't afford to is just killing me inside.

I'd never bother. What kind of real benefits are there like come on. Access to sex and sexuality? Sure there are countless free forums available covering everything. Avator change, laughable. As for keeping the site going surely the amount of ads are covering that.

I suppose if you like it enough then why not but I just wouldn't.
