Okay, so maybe it's me maturing as a guitarist, or just striving for something different, but recently i've been toying with the idea of a 12 string acoustic. Now i'd describe myself as an electric player at heart, have 4 tasty electrics and the same old epi acoustic i started off playing with, for that reason i feel it's about time i upgraded my acoustic.
I've always loved pottering about with 12 strings in shops and the likes, love the brightness and chime like qualities. Now, i think my budget would be around the 1000-1500 mark, 1500 would probably be pushing it. As for what to go for, i'm open to all suggestions!

A mate of mine bought a Tanglewood 12 string for something like €450 new in Longford and compared with the others I've tried, for the cash it's simply amazing! :pac:

made sure I played a rake of them when I was over there last year. Lovely guitars, acoustic and electric. think a recommended model can be had new for around AUS$1300. exchange rate is good at the mo!

    Avalon L32C/12. Absolutely stunning.

I played one at the Newtownards factory this time last year, priced around the £1100 mark. I didn't buy it because I'd already bought something else from them that day (an S32J).

It had a Sitka Spruce top, Solid Indian rosewood back and sides, and sounded like a choir of angels. Buying from the factory direct means massive savings, and seeing how the instruments are built first hand is also pretty awesome.

Avalons sound very different to the typical tones produced by manufacturers mentioned below... but once you hear and fall in love with the 'European tone', you never look back.

I've played avalons before, and they were fantastic, never a 12 string mind!

the aussie dollar is all over the shop at the moment. You'd never know. You may be able to pick up a Maton from Oz for cheap...
Some of the electrics are nice and cheap at the mo...
