Job Sites - Good, the bad and the ugly

I'm just curious, what jobs sites do people here usually go to first? I know that if I'm looking, irishjobs.ie and recruitireland.com are my first port of call. Irish Jobs does initially seem to have a lot of jobs, but an awful lot of them seem to be fake/duplicate/non-existant agency jobs. Recruit Ireland seem to have more real jobs, although I'm not really a huge fan of their interface.

I think the FAS site is one of the few job sites that only contain real jobs, it's a shame though that the interface is absolutely horrendous for it.

Anyone got any thoughts on which sites are best/worst?

I've probably used most of those sites at some stage, but irishjobs.ie is the first one I will go to, unless I'm at the stage of spending hours a day job searching, in which case I'll use the others.

I agree that IrishJobs.ie definitely has a lot of jobs that are not available for whatever reason, but generally a quick email will weed them out.

    jobs.ie

I think they're covered in the "Other" category. :p

    And hey - where's parttimejobs.ie and jobseeker.ie! ;)

 Been looking for a job on all those websites for the last two weeks now.
My first time looking for work in 33 years. Redundancy is about four weeks away.
Jobs.ie is my first port of call, but in general everything is so repetitive no matter where you go.
Have checked almost all of them every day and it is like nothing changes.
Is it me or is there just no new jobs going up recently.

    It's just you :)

I wrote some software which monitors new jobs on the various jobsites, and there are defo plenty of new jobs going online every day!

Perhaps not for very specific skills, but in general there are plenty of new jobs.

Sorry Arrrgh, I haven't heard of those sites, guessing they're yours?
I know when i apply for a job i want to know the name of the Company, not 'Our Client, a leading multi-national bla bla bla fake job.'
Once I see that, I instantly click away.

http://jobbank.fas.ie/ is the address. There is 3 hours till mignight. Today could be the last day to apply for a job (Friday usually is), so what's stopping you from having a gander right now?

    Fate favours the bold!

I got my current job off the back of having my CV on monster.ie. Most of the calls that I received when I was looking for work a few months ago started with "I saw your CV on monster and...". I didn't find monster that amazing for actually looking for jobs though.

I've found recruitireland.com good because they seem to have new jobs quite often, although I don't love their interface.

Apparently they spent millions on that website! I can't imagine how! it is awful!

I go to jobs.ie, find it the easiest to navigate and read.

i was laid off in 2001 and certainley for the north west every agency is a waste of time. the only interview i got through an agency was for mbna when they were opening up and there was no one there to interview me they found someone but was a complete waste of time the guy just wasnt interested . i;d be buying the broadsheets and local papers and focusing on them at least if a company advertises it really wants people. i'm sure a lot of the jobs on recruitment sites are fake just to get people signed up.

Ye your right of course. From working in the one place for sooooo long I kind of forget that job searches and applications can now be done 24 hrs a day.

With the exception of FAS & Publicjobs.ie, everyone else on that list are poor tbh.
All rely heavily on Agency Vacancies, which are mostly fake jobs to get CV's.
jobs.ie at least limit their Agency Content, which would explain why their traffic dwarves the other sites.

... and do people not remember realjobs.ie - died a bit of a death but its still there advertising 0 jobs, atleast we know they're all real.

    D.

Bloody hell, if you're working for that company I can assure you you're attracting no one to your business - try learning how to construct a sentence that people can comprehend!

Also - banned for a month for advertising.
