    i have a problem....

my doc says ive to stay off sugars and yeast for 3 weeks on a diet (digestion in bits) so beer is out the window!

unfortunately i have some events coming up that i cant get out of and not drinking is not an option,

however, i am allowed gin & vodka and i am prone to the odd vodka and red bull but the problem being that red bull has sugar in it....

so myt question is what is a good mixer for gin or vodka that doesnt have sugar in it???

please dont make me mix it with water!!:pac:

Well there definitely wouldn't be any yeast: any industrially-produced beer has been boiled, frozen, filtered and processed far beyond the point where there's any yeast left in it. Ales will often have unfermented sugars left over, but you won't get much, or any, in yellow lagers. Remember the Holsten Pils "All the sugar turns to alcohol" ads? Same principle.

I don't know. Perhaps because he doesn't know how beer is made.

not drinking is not an option

Why not? What sort of social event has mandatory drug taking?

if you can find it Asahi Super Dry will have very little reduila sugar left

There other option is a real cider, no sugar left in them, westons cider would be a good option in the bottle as I believe its filtered

you could try vodka with sugar free redbull (or burn/shark/clone). When you're ordering at the bar say youre diabetic and you dont want a mixer with sugar so any of the "diet" soft drinks, will do.

A diabetic friend of mine can drink lager all he wants, so I wouldn't say theres any sugar there.

As a disclaimer to this, I would however, go with your doctor on this rather than trusting some anonymous know it all on the internet ;)

Similarly, I think it would be worth getting the doc's opinion on how a night on the rip in Liverpool might affect the effectiveness of your diet.

I'm guessing "Your digestion is in bits, but you can throw down as much vodka and gin as you like" was not part of the conversation.

diet/slimline tonic. Regular tonic has sugar in it, it is just so bitter most think it has none.

Diet mixers with sweetners also increase alcohol absorption, so you save money getting tipsy on less.

+1, seems you are trying to bend the rules to cheat yourself, using the logic, "well he never said do not drink a gallon of vodka, therefore it must be fine". I would say the beer itself would do more harm than the little bit of residual sugar in it.

    Thanks for clarifying that.
You know, when I posted it I had a feeling I may have been wrong, but in the true spirit of internet message boards I went ahead and posted it anyway.

Carbonated drinks will also increases alcohol absorption by aggravating the spinster muscle in the stomach

well in fairness the nurse did ask me what i drink and i said beer and she said i cant have any but she herself mentioned i can have vodka and slimline tonic without me sayin it, and ive read it in some articles about the candida diet that vodka is ok!!

so who am i to disagree!:D

now to devise a way to ask for vodka and slimline tonic without coming across as a woman!

This forum is not intended to be used as a way of finding out the best way to get pissed against doctors orders.

    Thank you very much.
