Rewatching Things again.. again.. again.. again

Is there some show or perhaps a movie or a few select episodes that you watch happily again and again?

I know allot of people have no interest in rewatching things and most that do like to leave very long gaps in between viewings.

There are a few others who like to medicate themselves watching shows they have seen before, help them forget or makes a movie funnier - or whatever.

Do you rewatch shows allot, not atall or just sometimes? and what shows so you consider most worthy of a rewatch and why?

I do it all the time with films and tv boxsets but yet I'd never read a book twice.

The Sopranos every Christmas for the last couple of years so after about three days of Beer\Smoke\Salty snacks and a couple of seasons then every comment to the missus is mofcuker and fcuk etc

+1 I like watching things again, particularly if there's a really good scene or something. However, I can't re-read a book, maybe it's to do with wasting time reading all the bumbf before the interesting parts, which is easier to watch on film/tv.

Just finished watching Season 1 - 5 of the Wire for the third time. Enjoying it more and more with each watch.

I've forgotten how many times I've watched Seinfeld. Still love watching it.

I do occasionally. I've re-watched firefly about 10 times :), other shows I might go to watch particular episodes again, especially if a new season is starting and I want to catch up.

Some other things I'll watch repeats when they are on TV, e.g scrubs, simpsons, Family Guy etc but that's mainly to do with being bored rather than just sitting down and deciding I want to watch something again.

For movies, I normally like to have a bit of a wait between watches but do like to watch them again, if I like them.

    Father Ted.

Could watch it on repeat forever.

Im Re-Re watching it from the beginning, every scene with Pauly is worth it all by itself, but the rest is pretty damn good too.

I do the same with "Band of Brothers" for the past few Christmases. Without the salty snacks.

I'd rewatch Seinfeld a million times over, but given the amount of repeats on various channels, I haven't needed to watch the dvds more than once.

Porridge and Only Fools & Horses.
Almost always repeated every few days and I happily watch them :)

Even on the subject of more recent stuff - 'Fringe' looked interesting judging from the promos on Sky but when I eventually got round to viewing one ep (ep 3) one Sunday I was not drinking, it proved to be v.disappointing. Now though, 6 have imported it also so I can catch it from the start so it's not all watching repeats (with repeated viewings), it's a chance to catch up with what u may have missed. Some of us don't have time to catch the first run never mind absorbing repeats! To prove ur point however, on the movie front, Resevoir Dogs I can watch again & again. It's gotta be the best flick since Godfather Pt 2 and there's always something new to discover in the nuances

Same with my brother. It is rather addicting, and it's great how you can pick any random episode from the 7 seasons and not be following the storyline and enjoy the episode, such is the dialogue.

    Seasons 1,2 & 3 Ftw!

I've watched the Sopranos twice over. I will do the same with the Wire.

I watch Dodgeball every so often. So many superb quotes!

Arrested Development, still hilarious the 50th time.
The Wire 1-5, all the pieces really do matter.

I like to re-watch shows as well. Usually once a show is finished completely I like to go back to the start. By the end of a show you know the characters so well so it's always nice to go back and watch the first few seasons when originally you were only getting to know them.

With films I have the ritual of sitting down with the fire on at christmas and wathcing favourite christmas films.

Agree with The Wire, Band of Brothers and Die Hard too. I'd watch them anytime.

I like rewatching movies but i like to leave a bit of time between them.

In regards to TV shows, I love friends and have the complete box set thing so i watch them a lot on my ipod etc. Never get old. On a slightly different note though, i have a lot of series' that i want to watch from the start. E.g The Wire etc, but i dont have the time now.

Don't forget co*ksucker or the plethora of Italian words they use in the New Jersey twang such as 'fanocchio or 'oh madonna'.

Any film i like i will watch multiple times.

As for television the only ones i watch religiously are Father Ted and the I.T Crowd. Any long running 'serious' series i see no point in rewatching, i get myself a copy and delete after watching because they take up too much space.

I do watch reruns on telly though... Friends, Simpsons, Family Guy, Southpark, Star Trek TNG (it used to be on sky all the time but after not seeing an episode in a couple of years it's sometimes on BBC2 in the early hours:))

In fact, come to think of it, i would watch a rerun of any tv series if i hadn't seen it in a long time, but i highly doubt i would watch the whole series again, at least not as religiously as the first time.

"Ohhhhh, here he is" - I must have said that to my dad every time he came in the door from work after Christmas. Brilliant :D

The Sopranos especially and to an extent the Wire are great shows to rewatch because you can gain a totally different perspective of characters and events the second time around. It's incredible how much you miss on the first time of watching.

I think I've seen Scarface somewhere in the region of 50+ times now. I had one week a while back where I was off sick and must have watched it every single day without fail. This of course resulted in me going to places like Centra and having a weird cuban twang off my accent. :D

I'll throw Curb Your Enthusiasm in there too, I cant get enough of that Larry David stuff.

    +1000.

I could watch it forever and ever. It's one of those programmes where I could easily find myself up until 4am/5am and not regret it when the knackered-ness sets in the next day. I love it.

True, even on numerous viewings you notice more subtleties with characters and dialogue, place names, people, etc.

'His house looked like ****' haha

    Love it. And Bobby's outfit!

Another hilarious scene was when Junior was telling Tony that he had another uncle who was mentally retarded.

Tony to Junior: 'I used to hear my mother referring to my fathers retarded brother. I just assumed that she was talking about you' :D

And then the look Junior gives him. F**king priceless!

That's another one I'll end up watching for a lot longer than I mean to. Ther's actually a lot more thought gone into it than I used to think.

I've probably watched Blade Runner a dozen times, keep spotting stuff I've missed.

I'll usually end up watching Aliens or Alien Resurrection too if I come across them and it's a while since I've seen them. Not Alien 3 though ...*shudder*, and Alien itself is hardly ever on.
