Am I entitled to anything?

I am on a 1year career break from the civil service to go to college.

I am doing a one year course in Beauty Therapy and it cost me €6.5k  (yea I know). I was told I would be able to claim tax back on the fee, which I just found out yesterday that I cant.

AS part of my career break it states that I am not allowed to be employed duruing this break or my re-employment will fall through, this is a major hassle as I have no money coming in.

I applied for the medical card and was also told yesterday that I am not elegible as I am not earning anything. Oh and I also cannot go on the dole!

So, after paying taxes/prsi for the past 11 years of my working life, am I actually entitled to ANYTHING?

I am on a career break also and I am not allowed other employment without the permission of my "Employer". I know this might be a different situation given that you took your CB to study, but maybe a part time job in a completely unrelated area to your normal work might be ok, if you discussed it with your employer?

Not sure about the medical card issue and don't want to comment as my personal opinion as to what a person SHOULD be entitled to is often different to what a person is actually IS entitled to :(

    Good luck with your study.
