    You need something to actually mute the colour of your own lips first. Concealer can work for that. Then a lipstick of that colour with a lipgloss over. If you put the lipstick on normally, the red colour of your lips will redden it, but having muted the colour, it will show up more true to the colour on the tube. Hope I'm making sense.
