Jeep patriot stereo question

    Hi all,

The father got one of those jeep patriot things. Nice car. problem is that the factory fit stereo is your basic am/fm cd player. I can't remember the exact model of stereo it is but i do know that it has a Uconnect port for an ipod on it somewhere. I wonder if anyone has any experience of these stereos. I want to get an mp3 player for him for christmas. I am reluctant to go for the FM transmitter thingy as i have had experience with RTE 1 cutting in on the channel of the transmitter as i drove across the country. It's also another battery to be worrying about as well as charging the mp3 player. I don't want to get an ipod either to make use of this Uconnect thing as i have a hatred for itunes and ipods. If the stereo has bog standard audio ins I am laughing. I can get him a zen to fit into the mp3 holder in the armrest behind the handbrake. I dont want to pull the dash out just to find that out.

    Any help?

    Thanks

ps i think this is what he has

    Hi,
I don't know anything about this car or radio, but I'm having trouble understanding the question, which might also be a problem that might be able to help?!

What is it you're trying to find out, whether it has an aux input?

thats right. if anyone has ever seen the back of the radio parhaps there might be a pair of phono in connections.

Do you have the owner's manual? Have a look if you do. Otherwise, take a good look in the glovebox and around the dash - the connector might be tucked in somewhere.

There is a slightly higher spec model that has a line-in on the front to the left of the first preset key. I see one on ebay USA for 115 dollars. I am thinking i might just take out the stereo and have a look. I do have the owners manual but it is more of an end-user guide that covers all the models but doesnt go into installation and therefore wont show a back picture of the stereo.

I think this is a common problem with newer cars and these custom made stereos. My freind has a peogeot 307 and has the same problem
