This channel has been added on chorus digital cable in Cork. It seems to be a rebroadcast of city channel (owned by UPC?) with some local opt-outs.It uses the city channel logo and dog.

That's strange. However Malahide is ex-Chorus rather than ex-NTL, so that may be the reason - you are probably being fed from Chorus' super head-end rather than NTL's. You'd think they'd be able to arrange for City Channel Dublin to be inserted locally instead though.

Is there ever anything on this channel besides music videos? That's all I've seen, contrary to what the EPG says.

It seems to be a test broadcast at the moment. Full broadcasting begins, according to advertising, on Monday @ 7pm.

Maybe Morning Psychics, Afternoon Psychics, Evening Psychics and Night Psychics? Another crappy station like BUZZ TV??

Yes Citys Founder, David H was on NewsTalk on Sat. talking about the launch. Weird it's Channel South and not City South etc. It is meant for Limerick and Cork.

I love the idea of City, their local news and weather, they could have this on non-stop repeat. That is was I want from a City Channel. But the Dublin one today had Galway report, as a Dublin viewer, wanting to know what is happening in Dublin from Dublin City Channel, Galway Report is useless.

Well, I suppose it's the fact that it covers more than just cities. It's covering a big area of the south of the country hence "Channel South" not just the Cork and Limerick city cable networks.

City Channel would possibly be better off being called Channel East (Dublin) and Channel West (Galway) given that it also covers a wider area than just the cities of Dublin and Galway.

Is Channel South being carried on exNTL waterford?

City Channel is or was on NTL Waterford, to though how different it was from the Dublin version I don't know. It no longer seems to be listed as a seperate entity on City's website though.

Did it actually start on the 10th? The EPG still bares no resemblance to what's on the channel

I think they were using the EPG. information for city channel in Dublin (eg FM104 phone in show was listed but not carried on the channel). The EPG has been updated and syncronised since last thursday.

Channel South's magazine programme 'South Tonight' came to an end last Friday (7 August 2009) - its timeslots is now being filled by repeats of other programmes.

'South Tonight' was presented by C103 presenter Martina O'Donoghue and was pre-recorded at a different location in Munster every week (usually at a hotel), a half hour show then went out Monday - Friday and with omnibus repeat at weekends.

Is it going to return in the Autumn? Apparently there was no mention that it would return.

I would really wonder if there is enough advertising revenue around for city channel / channel south to survive. Considering that tv3 and rte television are struggling for revenue and given that there are Irish ad sales for a considerable number of satellite channels which would have much broader appeal than these local channels, I would suspect they're having a hard time.
