Strange goings on with my new range cooker

Hi, I got a Solid fuel Mulberry range cooker fitted last week and although it is heating rads & water very well, the problem lies within the cooker. Everytime it is lit a black watery tar seeps out from underneath the range. At first I thought the plumber hadn't the pipe connected properly but when he came back out an removed the bottom grill it was underneath the range and the poipes were fine. It seems to be seeping down from the firebox.

The chimney was cleaned just before the range went in and I have used bog turf, logs and coal to see if it made difference. The other problem is when loading fuel, the damper seems to have no effect and you end up get a plume of smoke in the face when trying to load. There is a thermostat too which controls the amount of air but it also seems to be having no effect. To get a good fire I have to open the ashbox door below the firebox door and this seems to get the fire going.

There is plenty of smoke coming from the chimney and there was an old stanley that used to be installed and this never had any problem with draught.

In my amateur view the problem lies within the range cooker, that it is not getting enough air due to a faulty thermostat & damper. Because when I bank it up at night and turn the thermostat right down it burns the same as if it was fully open.

Sorry for the long thread and I've been on to Mulberry who are tryinng to establish the faul in fairness. There has been no 'it's your fault' stuff just yet.

    Rgds,
    Tremone

    Hi,
Have found SWIFT in China. By doing some research on this, found your posts in here. Have you found solution for your problem with cooker? What is overall impression about this product? How good is quality? Do you recommend it for others? By the way, price in China is USD2300. Do you think this cooker is worth that amount? What is price in Ireland?
    Regards,
    Gints

It all depends what type of fuel but it is heating rads & water but needs a lot of cleaning, we use peat and it doesn't seem to be able to handle that. Move onto logs aswell, but the oil is rarely used in ofch.

    Hi

I know this is an old thread but OP im just wondering what your opinion of the Mulberry range is now that you have had it a while.

    Would you recommend?

Can you tell me how many rads you have it heating?

    Thanks
