It's a fantastic city, but can you give us some hints as to what you are into?

Historian? Shopper? Clubber etc? You'll get better recommendations if you give some hint about what your interests are :)

Make sure you do the 'Fat Tyre Bike Tour' http://fattirebiketours.com/berlin. They meet at Alexanderplatz every morning. Tour takes about 3-4 including lunch and beer in the park. Best €20 I spent in Berlin.
Fantastic city, you will have a great weekend

First thing you must buy is the Berlin 2welcome Card. For €24 you get unlimited use of all peublic transport (including buses, trams, underground trains (u-bahn) and overground trains (s-bhan) and will get you from the airport to the city. Berlin's huge so you'll need the trains but they're very frequent and go everywhere.

Berlin is full of history so you can't really go far without seeing something. The best thing I visited was a place called the "Topography of Terrors". Its an outdoor exhibition on the work of the SS, and more generally the Nazis in the 1930s and early 40s. Very interesting stuff.

The main shoping street is Ku'udam and you can find pretty much everything you want on that. KaDeWe is apparently the biggest department store in Europe.

When you give more pointers I'm we sure we can give more info

thanks for that, will def look up the tour as that would be something i'd be interested in doing.
we staying at the circus hotel in mitte. i would like to do a bit of shopping but from looking up the kadewe on the internet i'd say its out of my price range!!! i will go and see it anyway as it looks fantastic.
was thinking checkpoint charlie, holocaust memorial, the zoo and maybe a christmas market but i think we going a week too early for them. we going 20th and back the 23rd. if theres somrthing i missing let me know and something not wothy doing please let me know as i only have 3 days and dont want to waste them..

the markets start the following weekend but a msure some will be up, have great memories ofchestnuts and gluiwein

    love love love berlin

go to roof of bundesstag, or what ever they call the reichstag now

go up the telly tower - very cool, and strangely romantic

the bus tours are what we opted for , the opt on /off feature got to see tonnes
however we did it the last day and had seen everything with our usual marathon of discoverign the city - some day I'll just chill on a holiday

you will really really really enjoy it

Berlin is my all time favourite European destination. It just gives me food for the soul. There is so much to see. Check out the Fixed Hot Air Balloon they have for an elevated view of the city, the TV tower is worthwhile too as is just wandering around many of the neighbourhoods. Friedrichshein is really funky with loads of cool cafes, bars etc. Eating out is very reasonable too. I think the greatest thing for me about Berlin is just people watching. People there are so individualistic with such an array of personalities, styles and persuasions and all very celebrated. It has a very young and arty feel to it. Spent a few crazy weekends there and hope to again soon.

    Viel viel Spass!!

KaDeWe is the posh/expesnisve West-Berlin department store. Hit Freidrichshein and Kreuzberg for the smaller more individualist shops. Both are good for early evening entertainment as well - meals, bars, before you hit the clubs (if that's the plan). The area around Simon Dach Strasse (in the East, near the Warschauer Strasse metro stop) is also good.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

3 or 4 lads thinking of going over, like to do all the touristy things during the day (were all really into WW2 etc) but love clubbing and having a few drinks at night. What are the Berliners like for a bit of a laugh in the nightclubs? And what are the women like :D

Have been to pretty much most of the big Euro cities now and our favourites were St Petersburg, Tallinn, Helsinki and eh Newcastle :pac:

Hated Riga with a passion, full of stags and the girls wouldnt give ye the time of day, so this needs to be avoided.

    Is Berlin recommended?

Definitely go over. It's my favourite city in Europe. Heading again next week. This will be my third time.

The clubs don't stop. You can go out at 2am and keep going til the next evening if you want. Besides clubbing, there's loads of history, checkpoint charlie, the wall, topography of terrors, brandenburg gate.

It's really funky, the talent is unreal and I've not seen one stag party when I was there. The public transport system is class, which is needed because the city is ENORMOUS, spread out and there's no real city centre as such (apart from Alexanderplatz).

The people are cool and really image conscious but in a positive way. When I was going first I was going with a stupidly narrow-minded way of thinking that the Germans would be boring. How wrong was I. They're the most laid back, fun-loving folk in Europe. Well, Berliners anyway.

    Can't wait to go again.

Seriously, screw Amsterdam and other places. Berlin's where it's at.
