    IMDb | RottenTomatoes | Metacritic

    Trailer:

Looks like a fantastic film.. and reviews for it have been stellar!

It has a rating of 7.1 on IMDb (though only 389 votes) and 100% on RottenTomatoes (though only 14 reviews there). And just read a glowing 10 / 10 review on JoBlo.com saying:
A vivid portrait of love, pain, brutality and destiny that is beyond anything playing at the local Cineplex. Not only is it one of Boyle’s most incredible works of art, it may very well be the best film of the year.

    ..

It is unnerving what Boyle accomplishes here. It sounds cliché, but this is truly one of those films where you may find yourself laughing out loud then crying the next.

    ..

Once again, Boyle has created a movie that is flowing with style. He shoots this story with such a profound skill and of course, adds some wonderfully chosen pieces of music. All the songs are poured into the film and truly become part of its beauty.

    ..

While I wonder if the film will find the audience it deserves, I think something this beautifully orchestrated will find itself tossed around when the Oscar nominations are announced. And if that happens, it will be richly deserved.

Am really looking forward to this.. as Boyle continues to impress me!

Yeah, I can't wait for this either. I'm a big Boyle fan, even loved Sunshine.

I'm assuming this is based on the book Q&A, right? either that or its an amazing rip off :P

Yeah.. I loved the soundtrack to Sunshine more than the film but watched it recently again - and it's definitely better on a second viewing!

Yep, it's based on the book. From it's Wikipedia page:
The film is based on the bestselling novel Q and A by Vikas Swarup. Production began in Mumbai in November 2007. After showings at various festivals, the film will have a limited release on November 12, 2008.

Great little tidbit on the Wikipedia page about it's production and "product displacement":
According to Danny Boyle, the makers had to resort to something he calls "Product displacement". Companies such as Mercedes didn't mind having a gangster driving their cars, but objected to their products being shown in a slum setting. This forced the makers in post-production to remove logos digitally, costing "tens of thousands of pounds."

Yeah, John Murphy's soundtrack is fantastic. Very underrated composer.

Feck it now I'm all excited about this film and it's limited release, my arse it'll come to Mullingar so that will piss me off no end.

Great to see Dev Pattel again, loved him as Anwar in Skins.

    It sounds very interesting alright.

There's a very good interview with Boyle on Kermode's Five Live podcast from last Friday. He talks about the Sunshine soundtrack release too.

Has anyone seen this yet? Just got finished watching it.

It's good, very good at times !!!! people will say city of god meets who wants to be a millonaire................... its nowhere near as good as either!! but good in its own right dispite some lame plot devices mostly in the last 30 minutes or so. It is an enjoyable film and not as dark as some of Boyles other stuff but with out spoiling it does have flaws.

will maybe elaberate once more folks have seen.

    Still i give it 7/10

I loved it. Best film I've seen all year.

It's undoubtedly a mass-appeal picture which means it will get its fair share of fans and critics but it's fantastically well made. It's an old-fashioned story but Boyle's direction makes for a very fresh and enjoyable experience. Hopefully he'll be recognised come Oscar time.

i liked the movie but oscar material???? hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Ok i'd put in there just cuz i cant think of anything that deserves it more right now to be honest but it wasnt that good. Mind you most winners rarely are deserving based on the last few years results

I liked it, quite interesting mixing the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire bits with parts of his life and the love story, and Dev Patel from Skins was a good cast, as was Frieda Pinto who is just gorgeous! ;)

I adored it also... it's quite a simple story but told incredibly well and it appeared to me as being a labour of love for Danny Boyle (etc). The performances, direction, everything just appealed to me outright.

The 3 child actors who played Latika, Salim and Jamal really impressed me.

This could be my film of the year.. just don't go in expecting it to change your life. It is, at it's heart, a very simple story but I loved it.
