Paddy Power Gold Cup

That time of year again, 9 days time and I'll be on my way back over for the November meeting today.

Paddy Power Gold Cup weights released today

The Irish horses have been given extra weight just for luck by the English handicapper and IMO thats a joke. I must have been asleep and missed all the Irish trained winners of handicap chases. Noel O'Brien should give Nicholls handicappers a few extra pounds next time he sends a few over and see how they like it (end of childish rant :D)

Anyhow a few are of interest to me.

Imperial Commander looked like taking high order among last years novices until it all went wrong in his 3rd start. Not seen out again so its fair to say that run was all wrong. Rated 139 which is only fair on actual form but there has to be a chance of massive improvement if he's back fit and well. 10/1 all hoovered up today, pity I was gonna have a little on.

Barber Shop ran a massive race in the Jewson last year and is only 6lbs higher now. Henderson has a good record in this race and with a bit of improvement from his novice season could run well in this

An interesting outsider is possibly Moon over Miami. Not off a yard at Asot at the weekend and needs to go left handed anyhow. Not the biggest Charlie Mann fan but could be the best of those at 20/1+

Silverburn looks reasonably handicapped but is a shocking price for a horse that has failed to run to his top from twice at this course in the 07 & 08 festivals when well fancied both times. An over rated horse and will surely be no shorter on the day

The extra weight for the Irish chasers is a bit of a joke seeing as we haven't won the race since 1980!

Just had a look at this race and Ashley Brook at 36 on betfair stands out a mile for me. This horse has good course form and really seemed back to his best form (which is almost 3 years ago) on his seasonal appearance.

    Seems well weighted.

Wont see out the trip, too inconsistant a jumper

Barbers Shop and Don't Push it for me at this early stage.

Also if the ground comes up soft, Nozic to run a good race at big odds. Now looks like Nozic isnt going to run

Probably right richie, but just have a sneaking feeling its value at that price. Ground will be a huge factor.

This one might just win a decent race this year of that mark.

Id like to add in Yes Sir at 55/1 on betfair EW for this race, he has good course form and has an excellent change of being placed at least.

Barbers Shop and Silverburn i have decided, not very interesting picks as they head the market, Silverburn has had a wind op and if this helps then being a brother to Denman proves there is class in the family.

Barbers Shop is the novice of the event but ran a really good race when 2nd to FingeronthePulse at Cheltenham and should go Close.

going to have a few quid EW on mister mcgoldrick, loves the course and had a good run here last time i think hes overpriced @ 40/1 and for my win option im going with ouzbeck who was a course and distance winner here last time giving a bit more weight to his rivals this time but i think this horse has a bit of class to him!!:pac:
