    Howdy,
I'm about to buy an amp. Was giving this a good rattle and I liked it a lot, especially compared to others that I tried with similar specs / performance but with much higher price tags...

Has anybody any experience with this and what do they think regarding reliability and in general?

    thanks for any responses

I think one of the lads on here might have had one of those. Think it was QuattroSte. He might be able to give you more info on it

I had the LC30 II. All I can say about it was that you needed to push it hard to get any sort of personality out of it, and pushing hard was really, really loud. It was a good amp, reliable, and did most things well but just lacked something. Having said that, I never changed the stock valves. I would say this could give it more life, as being at the cheaper end of the range it is aimed at, means that things like stock valves would be lower quality. The VC as far as I know is more expensive than the LC and more of a AC30 type amp. I don't want to put you off in any way. Laney are better than their price suggests.

They're nice amps Denali, and like you said good value for the money. Like Quattroste I own an LC30II (he sold his though), and I have its little brother the LC15 stashed up home in my parents house for when we visit. Most seem to prefer the VC series, it is based on the AC30 if thats what your into, personally I prefer the Lc series, bit more of a 'modern' sound. The VC series do nail a nice vintage tone though.
I'd agree with Quattroste on everything he said (christ it hurts to say that:pac::pac::pac::D) but i would add one thing- the lo gain input on both my amps needs sorting out- I suspect just a re-solder, but its an annoying niggle all the same. Ste nailed it on the head though when he said you gotta turn 'em up to get the magic happening- and Laney are very conservative with the output rating. They make 'em LOUD!! Head to the Laney Forum or the Laney Posse and you should be able to hear both the VC and LC series in action.
