    Nikolay Davydenko
Haven't been following the tennis properly since the US Open but I picked Murray because I think as someone who is only beginning to win stuff a win here will be worth a lot more to him than the likes of Federer, Roddick, and Djokovic.

Andy Murray really impressed me on the hard court season and also with his win in Madrid. I think he will do well.

I reckon Tsonga is a good outsider.

I would go for Murray too. Federer's back is at him, and Djokovic is off the boil. Of the rest, Gilles Simon would be my favourite. He's had a great run into the tournament, and as the lucky loser to take Nadal's place, it would make a great story were he to win.

Djokovic wins to reach last four.

Djokovic became the first player to book his place in the semi-finals of the Masters Cup with a tight 7-6 (7-3) 0-6 7-5 win over Davydenko.

Earlier on, Del Potro beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-6 7-6 in Tuesday's other Gold Group match.

Tsonga is definitely out after his second defeat of the tournament - so the winner of Thursday's clash between Davydenko and Del Potro will progress.

I agree, on paper it seemed an easier task for the Swiss star than overcoming Roddick but he had to work hard to take the first set on a tie-break.

The start of the second set continued where the first had left off with neither player able to establish any kind of momentum.

A second tie-break looked almost inevitable until the eighth game when Federer finally managed to secure the break.

Similar to the first set though, Federer then suffered another lapse of concentration, allowing Stepanek to break back immediately denying the Swiss player the chance to serve out the match.

The prospect of a second breaker quickly re-emerged but a clever chipped forehand return of serve at an angle from Federer brought up three match points, before Stepanek slapped down a double fault to gift his opponent the win.

Why is Stepenek in as Roddicks replacement. Shouldn't it not be James Blake or someone else just outside the Top 8 like Simon was.

It should have been James Blake but they needed a player right away. Stepanek was on holiday in Thailand before arriving in Shanghai, said: "I had a racquet from Novak Djokovic, and I got socks from Murray. But he's using the same ones as I do, so I asked him if I could borrow one."

Davydenko swept past Del Potro 6-3 6-2 to book his place in the Masters Cup semi-finals.

The semi-final line-up in Shanghai will be finalised by the final Red Group matches tomorrow morning when Murray takes on Federer and Simon faces late replacement Stepanek.

Murray has already booked his place in the last four after the Scot notched up victories over Andy Roddick, who later withdrew from the tournament because of injury, and Simon.

Murray is looking very strong, and more agressive after his showing today against RF.

Great entertainment, but I fooking hate Sky Sports' coverage of tennis.

Murray wins 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 7-5. Murray and Simon advance from that group.

And you were right, 7-5 6-2.

Djokovic beat Simon in the other three set match so it is a rematch in tomorrow's final with Djokovic as the obvious favourite.

I think Murray and Simon can be proud of what they have achieved this year.

Murray was visibly tired after Friday's victory over Federer and Davydenko made him pay, breaking in game 12 for the first set.

He then continued to batter Murray from the baseline and the Scot succumbed as Davydenko secured the double break to wrap up the match.

In the first semi-final, Simon took the first set against Djokovic but Simon faded after being treated for a neck injury early in the second set.

Djokovic himself had the trainer on in the final set, for a calf injury and a long-standing breathing problem, but he held on for a 4-6 6-3 7-5 win in two hours 51 minutes.

Davydenko vs Djokovic should be a great match.

I'm looking forward to this final.
