    Right folks.

I need to scan a large number of pages frm picture books to show in presentations using a projector

Is there any free software that will work a scanner, scan the document and create a CONTINUOUS Pdf file from all the scanned documents???

i.e. if i scan 7 pages in a row, it will create a Pdf file of seven pages long...

    thanks in advance

    You could

Scan the images and save them as standard .tiff files.

Then simply use open office writer:create a document drag and drop each page in order into the document so you have a document 7 pages long and then hit the export to .pdf button to create a pdf file.

That would be the easiest way off the top of my head.

You can scan directly into OpenOffice.org Writer (assuming your scanner driver is Twain/SANE compliant) - Insert, Picture, Scan, Request

Just hit enter or insert a line/page break after each scan and then export as a multipage PDF.

Faststone image viewer http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm will convert a series of images (jpg, png, gif, or whatever) into a multi page PDF document. You can also scan the images from within the application itself if you want.

It's a great picture viewer too, with loads of features plus it's free.

    good man

tried those, they seem to be satisfactory

but I know there is some other program or scanner out there that does it automatically

I use scanners with document feeders that have the ability to scan in as many pages as you like into one pdf document, and then save or email the resulting pdf document, but its a function of the scanner itself, not software on a pc. I've seen normal flatbed scanners that will scan a number of pages into word, and then that can be pdfed, but, again they have document feeders...

I, like Danny Buoy, have a multi-funtion Epson printer, that when I scan anything to my computer it puts a page on the screen to preview the page and also lets you chose how you want it saved, this has then got a drop-down tag, that lets you select save to .pdf file.
Although like someeone else suggested open office does it, but it's a pain copy and pasting.
