    Im trying to find pictures of people with intullectual disabilitys for a research project my girlfriend is doing. Anyone any ideas where to start?

    You could try using google image search. That's where i do most of my looking for those sort of things.

    You're a photographer right? Don't know if it would fit the bill of the research project but how about striking up a conversation with someone in your local special olympics organisation - explain the detail of the research project and see if they'd be game ball to allow you officially photograph some event they may have. they benefit by getting the images as would the individual families perhaps - it would cost you prints i suppose. Just a crazy idea.

    If not that adventurous for a photo shoot, try creative commons images in a flickr search on special olympics (again if special olympics fit's the bill). if doing so, pay attention to any attribution requirements that they may have.

    Hope that's an idea to get you thinking.

    You can also follow work of Guillaume Duchenne who photographed mentally disadvantaged people. Well, he used them as a test dummies when studying effect of electric current on muscles. Facial muscles mostly.
