My poor little Crate, aged all of 8, has died.
The receipt I lost had a long guarantee. It lied.

It refuses to work, despite everything that I've tried.
Tried another guitar and zip. Lets face it it's fried.

It had a beautiful sound with my fender strat too.
But regarding replacements I dont have a clue.

So I turn to you fellow boardsies and hope for advice,
Versatile re: effects and bright tone would be nice.

I like to play classic rock as my sig would suggest.
So once distortion sounds good I'm easily impressed.

    Thoughts?

    Deep man. Deep :(.

What's your budget and what kinda tone are you after? ie. what bands/guitarists do you like the sound of?.

I have a few suggestions for ya once we can narrow it down :).

Well I play mostly rock of the classic variety. Think Zeppelin / Clapton / bluesy rather than super heavy distortion. I also have a pretty neat jazzbox that jazz has never EVER been played on for acoustic plucking so a bit of a jack of all trades of an amp would be fine rather than a master of one. I was looking at a few that had a number of different effects, they seemed pretty good. So I guess a nice clean mellow sound for the softer side of rock rather than a growler of a super heavy distortion amp.

Hmmm,i'd get one of these in your situation...

    http://www.ceriatone.com/productSubPages/ACBFChamp/ACBFChampCabinet.htm

...and a small speaker cab. But that'll cost you about 650 squids,so i'm guessing no :(.

It will however fit all your needs. Will work for jazz (if you watch the volume),softer rock and blues perfectly!. It's an all tube 5 watter and these things are godly!.

Alternatively, you could go for any of these...

    http://www.thomann.de/it/gibson_ga5_goldtone_lespaul_junior_gitarrencombo.htm
    http://www.thomann.de/it/harley_benton_ga5.htm
    http://www.thomann.de/it/orange_ad5.htm

The first two are similiar to the ceriatone. They're good for blues/light rock and are small 5 watters. The ad5 is like the first two,but with more gain on tap and more of a zep thing going on.

    But this.....
    http://www.thomann.de/it/fender_super_champ_xd.htm
    .....is brilliant!

It's a 15 watter, all tube but with some modelling technology thrown in,so you can tune into a bunch of different amp tones/models. Imagine a spider amp,but not aimed at 13 year old kiddies with bc riches ;).

EDIT : actually,to be honest you should just go for the superchamp (last link).

Nice price and great, versatile tone, aimed at what your looking for. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aGMTrL0pGg
