Music was invented in 1986 and played only by those in the english speaking world? Interesting if only for that.

How do you go about ordering your top 50 albums. :)
Have you weighted the albums in some way (points for melody, vocals, instrumentation, lyrics, song meaning, album cohesion etc).
Nah, only joking- seems like a difficult exercise though tbh.
I'd be able to maybe say what my top few favourite albums are but even though, it'd be hard to order them.

No not really (at all). It just seams a very uninspired list. I'd find making a list impossible as it would continually change. I think this is healthy. Going to the lenghts of devising your favourite albums and then restricting it to 50 (or indeed blowing it out to 50) is a peculiar exercise. So if one did go to the trouble of doing such an exercise there should be a point to it. I'm missing the point. I missing the point at the very 1st hurdle. The content. Sure they're all good albums (yaddah, yaddah, yaddah). But it's a list compiled in a straight jacket. Nothing that wouldn't have made it onto one of those "the best album in the world" albums that did the rounds in the 90's. Essentially its all the same genre...Pop. Grand but nothing interesting, challenging or indeed influential beyond its own smug sphere. It's a very limited list.

Why does it have to be interesting or influential? It's merely their favourite 50 albums nothing more nothing less

This is why I think the thread is pointless. It may be uninspired to you ( and definitely so to me :D ), but musical taste is a very personal thing. It's a case of "what's one man's meat is another's poison". If the OP picked say three albums and gave a detailed reason why he liked them, then at least it would be a little more interesting................ but still pointless IMO.

It was a criticism. The last line of the OP "there you are to criticize...". Kinda opens up that Pandora's box. Otherwise the thread would be completely pointless. Or as useful as a list of someone elses groceries.

It was a crticism (invited). Nothing more, nothing less.
