When researching a story which involves a crime where do you contact for garda statement/comment/update? The local station or the garda press office?

Assume the story is about a rapist targetting women in a country town

Ask for the superintendent, the press office won't say anything, ever.

Well i would only ring the GPO as a last resort. Try the local guards first and early in the investigation. If its down the country and turns in to a big national story the Inspector or Super will refer everything to the GPO and they only release a bland statement.
