Laptop taking 40 minutes to boot.....

Hello all, I reformatted a laptop for a friend, it was riddled with virus/spyware and I really couldnt be bothered to fix it so I reformated. Now its taking about 40 minutes to boot and I cant think why........ Its a fijitsu siemens AMILO L1300 and is about 4 years old..... Any one have any ideas?

Hello all,

Is it XP? If so, SP2?

I had this before where after installing SP2, the laptop was useless. Had to remove it and it was fine.
