kilmacud should not be joint favourites! suppose the large number of dublin punters could lead to a big payout if they got lucky so odds are kept low!
    what games this weekend?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

I got Eire Og at 28/1 before 1st round last week, put €50 on it!
It is my own club and i know its a very strong panel we have this year. Plus the draw is also very favourable, last weekend Kiltegan at home..this weekend Colmcilles at home.
Also from what i hear the semi final would also be in Carlow v the winners of Rhode/Portlaoise.
So with only a potential final the only game we play out of Carlow those 28/1 odds seemed a bit generous in my opinion.

    Games this weekend are:
AIB LEINSTER GAA HURLING SENIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER-FINAL
Saturday: Ballyboden-St Enda’s (Dublin) v Birr (Offaly), Parnell Park, 2.30
    pm.

AIB CONNACHT GAA FOOTBALL SENIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINALS
    Sunday
Eastern Harps (Sligo) v Ballaghadereen (Mayo), Markievicz Park, 2.30pm.
Castlerea (Roscommon) v Corofin (Galway), Dr.Hyde Park, 2.30pm.

AIB GAA LEINSTER FOOTBALL SENIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER-FINALS
    Sunday
Kilmacud Crokes (Dublin) v Newtown Blues (Louth), Parnell Park, 2.30pm Eire
Og (Carlow) v Colmcilles (Longford), Carlow, 2.30pm
Rhode (Offaly) v Portlaoise (Laois), Tullamore, 2.30pm
    O’Mahonys (Meath) v Castledaly (Westmeath), Navan, 2.30pm

AIB MUNSTER GAA FOOTBALL SENIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER-FINAL
    Sunday
Nemo Rangers (Cork) v Kerins O’Rahillys (Kerry), Pairc Ui Chaoimh, 2.00pm

AIB ULSTER GAA FOOTBALL SENIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER-FINAL
    Sunday
Crossmaglen Rangers (Armagh) v St. Patrick’s (Fermanagh), Crossmaglen, 2.30
    pm.

lads, this kerins o rahillys team is a serious outfit. looking at their team last week, i think 13 of them have played for kerry at some level, including Morgan O shea, david moran, mike quirke, tommy walsh and declan quill at senior level, they all have all ireland medals..

add in barry john walsh, benny quill and brian moran, this team is top class. HOWEVER, they still have not played the kerry final. this is sunday week, by all accounts, Jack o connor has 100% focus on this, so Nemo Sunday maybe taken second level.....i hope not, cos if they beat Nemo, they can go alll the way in this. Declan Quill is a class act, but for the gooch, this lad would be one of the most lethal forwards in the country.

Homer as a man in the know, how serious so you think they are taking this weekends game? Its a really weird situation to be playing a provincial game before a county final !!
But i reckon if they could win this weekend v Nemo that those 9/1 odds are very generous! That club would beat most counties!
I might add that to my 28/1 on Eire Og for Leinster & could be in for some serious money!!
What do u reckon the chances are of a win on Sunday?

Rhode v Portlaoise will be a big game today.I suspect Portlaoise will pull through.Think it will be a Kilmacud Crokes v Portlaoise final.Crokes are playing Newtown Blues from Louth and should win but they are missing star full back Cian O Sullivan so it will be interesting to see how they adapt their game.

Can't count out Crossmaglen and Nemo Rnagers.I suspect they will be there at the business end of the championships.

In Leinster, Kilmacud Crokes, Navan O'Mahonys and Rhode are through to the semi finals. Éire Óg and Colmcilles ended in a draw.

Corofin and Eastern Harps through to the final in Connacht.

Nemo beat O'Rahillys in Munster and Crossmaglen beat St. Patricks in Ulster.

I can't really comment because I haven't seen anything of St. Eunan's but I do believe that this Cross team is very beatable. They've dominated Ulster for the past decade or so but like with Armagh, I feel they're an ageing team nearing the end of their cycle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,096 ✭✭✭An Citeog

St. Eunan's v Crossmaglen is live on TG4 at the moment. 20 minutes gone now and Eunans are up by 0-6 to 0-2. Cross haven't got going at all but Eunans are making hard work of their scores. If Eunans can keep up this work rate for 60 minutes, I think they'll take the game.

Fair play to Adare today. Great result for Limerick hurling.

Anyone see Eoin Brislane's disgraceful pull across Conor Fitzgerald today???

It was practically assault. Absolutely no place for that in our game.

    in before the lock!

in all fairness, theres a thread already open for the club championships and we are not really into individual slagging off relative unknowns on here, especially club players.

im sure if what he did is as bad as you say, it will be dealt with.

Not Locked Yet and it was a Disgraceful challenge . Again it bring up the bans in the Gaa wether it is Club or county.
How much will this Guy actually miss if he does get a Ban

Yeah agreed it was a terrible challenge, from a guy who lets just say has form and was living on the edge all year, he will most likely get 3 months and must miss at least one game, which will be just a group game in next years North Tipp championship, which is hardly apt considering the challenge in question.

Yeah straight red, he'll definitely get 3 months for striking and possibly 6 months but it wont mean anything in reality

I think in his defense it was a moment of complete and utter madness on his part.

It was the act of a frustrated man and to be honest i don't think he would have done it if the match was taking place in May.

It really brings up the whole question on monthly bans not being consistent.just look at the Paul Galvin affair.

    thats a different topic though.

Your been very kind to him i can tell you for a fact iv seen him do it on three occasions this year and get off with a yellow for reasons only know to the referees in question

I try to see the best in players but I'm not in the Know as regards the Tipp club game. But with a name like premierstone you'd be in a better position to comment on his conduct.

Yeah iv seen him in action a fair few times and was not one bit suprised and after he wqas sent off the camera stayed on him and you could clearly see him laughing at what he'd done, which imo sums him up perfectly, it was also very noticeable that in this case like all the previous ones this year alone that he didnt exactly 'take on' the biggest guy on the other team he's very selective about who he does it to

paul had the most severe punishment of all -> not being able to lead your team out on croke park. the fact that one of those was final day, meant he perhaps suffered more than any player in history.

anyway, nothing to be here back on topic... something about hurling was it?:D

Slight exaggeration there Homer? Suffered more than any player in history??

Tony Keady and Galway suffered a lot more in 1989, and for a totally undeserved suspension. Most people I know think Galvin deserved his suspension, or even got off lightly. Keady was wrongly told by GAA authorities he could play in the States, then suspended when he did. Galway missed the previous year's Hurler of the Year and lost to Tipp, he was a much bigger loss than Galvin was to Kerry.

Oh god dont mention the Keady affair I know from my proximity to the Galway border and the fact Im a Tipp man that, that one still really rankles with Galway

Most bookies (Paddy Powers, Ladbrokes) had Drom Broadford at around 8/1 to beat Nemo today, the latter being 1/12

What idiot makes up these odds? Do they even attend football matches?

Tbh, I think everybody expected Nemo to win. That said, 8-1 are long odds in a 2-horse race. Cork champions and last years beaten finalists beat the Kerry representatives in Munster, so the bookies are obviously going to have them as clear favourites.

Fair play to Drom Boradford anyway. It's nice to see other clubs coming through.

8/1 odds were nothing more than an insult to the footballing ability of Drom, who backbone the Limerick team. The same Limerick team who did everything but beat Cork earlier this year. 4/1 would have been more realistic odds. One would think from those odds it was a Junior B side Nemo were playing!

Good to see Limerick football coming to the fore, It should be 50/50 for the Munster final against Kilmurry/Ibrickane,

One thing also, the Ulster representatives will love to hear that Nemo are gone, and they will be thinking an easy passage to the final, It Ballinderry and Crossmaglen in the Ulster final, two of the biggest club names in Ulster.

Anyone have any idea what type of start Drom got on the Handicap betting?

Yeah 8/1 was a bit ridiculous alright considering Ballylanders ran Nemo very close last year and Drom obliterated Ballylanders this year.

Fair play to them. A major scalp for them and a great result.

Hopefully they go all the way in Munster.

Very very impressed with Rhode yesterday. A seriously talented side, with a bit of strength in depth it seems too.
Ok they beat a physically & mentally drained after 8 weeks on the go Eire Og yesterday. But even a full strength fresh Eire Og would not have beaten that side. Would have ran them a lot closer, but Rhode were a class apart.

The Ref didn't help EO at crucial stages. The peno Rhode got was never a peno (way outside the area), and brought it from 0-4 v 0-3 to 1-4 v 0-3 after McNamee kicked in the rebound after a fantastic save by EO keeper. And that early 2nd half goal that made it 2-4 v 0-3 looked very much like a square ball. Those goals ended the game as a contest, but thats not to take away from a team who were dominating in every position anyway. And with or without those dubious decisions would most certainly have won without a doubt.

Looking to the final i really would give Rhode every chance of beating Crokes.

But i hear this evening the final is fixed for Parnell Pk:confused:
What is the thinking behind this? Surely Portlaoise is the obvious choice for that!
Very unfair to ask Rhode to go to Carlow for semi & now to Dublin for final.

That's just the luck of the draw. Afaik, the only match played in a neutral venue is the final on March 17th.

As for the game itself, it's set up to be a cracker and very tough to call. By all accounts, Ross O'Carroll had a great game at full back and should keep his place for the final. With Cian O'Sullivan due back from suspension (arguably Crokes' best player in the Dublin SFC), he should reclaim the number 6 jersey, with Paul Griffin being given the task of man-marking Niall McNamee. Up front, Kavanagh, Davoren and Vaughan (if he's on form) are capable of racking up a decent score. Also, Shane Sullivan (centre back for Rhode) was sent off against Eire Óg and will miss the final.

Should be a great match but I think Crokes will win it by 0-3.

Drom Broadford win on the 7th of December would give Limerick Football a Huge Boost.
It will Not be easy as Kilmurry/Ibrickane have alot of experience and would this Competition a couple of yrs ago.

8 to 1 to beat Nemo on Sunday was a huge price and i am sure some Good Limerick People had a Few quid on it.

2 Limerick Clubs in both Senior Munster Final is Great and if i say so myself a shock given our recent record in the tournament.

I'd have to agree with those sentiments. This team is a bit inexperienced in Leinster at the moment and perhaps a bit small. Rhode, on the other hand, have been around for a while. Still the experience should stand them well in the future.

Crokes aren't invincible but, they should have too much for Rhode. If Ballinderry can knock Cross out the Stillorgan crew will be licking their lips and thinking of repeating 1995.

Ballyhale are going to walk the hurling championship! Different Class!

Fantastic win for De La Salle this afternoon. 1-09 to 0-10 winners over Adare when they didn't even get on the score sheet until the beginning of the second half. They also outscored the opposition by 1-07 to 0-01 in the final 20 mins

Yes Hard luck on Adare couple of errors cost them dearly .

Hopefully Drom/Broadford will Do the Business on Sunday.

And Well Done to Bruff on reaching the Munster Junior Football Final

Great win for De La Salle! Was delighted for them.

Poor game I thought though and standard of hurling was very bad. A lot of bunching and poor shooting.

If De La Salle wish to go on and win it out their shooting has to hugely improve and they need more forwards getting scores. I can't see them winning it out but I hope to god they do.

Congrats to them on winning Munster Club of the year also!

For De La Salle to win it they will have to hope that Ballyhale Shamrocks pull out :P

And Portumna for that matter, still it is a great achievement to have won munster, credit where credit is due and id imagine John Mullane will value he's county and munster club medals more than any allstar he was robbed of.

    I didn't want to say it. :(

If it is a DLS v Ballyhale final and I think it will be then it's gonna be a huge game. AI Final will still be fresh in the memory and that might give DLS the motivation they need, as if there was any more motivation needed to win the Club final.

Head says Ballyhale should win this year.
