I'm actually looking forward to this and I think delaying it until all the broadcasts have aired has definitely created more of a buzz about it. Hopefully I'll be able to avoid the results on Monday and Tuesday and watch it 'as-live' on Wednesday. Will anyone bother watching it live on the net?
Any thoughts on who looks good to win it? Not much to go on, but Eastgate and Demidov look good, and Philips seems to know what he's at too. Maybe Cardshark and Hawkeye can give some expert insight...!

I read its not being shown live or delayed now and it will just be the standard 2 hour ESPN all in fest crappy standard coverage, anyone confirm or deny??

yeah looking forward to it more than previous years as I've had the chance to get to know some of the players. my money would be on Demidov, just below the chip-lead without the pressure of going in as chip leader (the starting chip leader last year, Philip Hilm, finished 9th). not seen too many holecards from Demidov but he finished 3rd in this year's WSOPE ME and I was just impressed with his table demeanour, looks like he'll keep calm under pressure.

Chino Rheem has a good chance too, he'll be a feared player if he gets a stack together. whether he wins or loses his first significant pot will be crucial (and I hope he does as it will make it more fun). you get the feeling he's gonna finish either 9th or 1st.

Chip-leader Dennis Phillips is the opposite. he's gotta be nailed on for a solid 3rd or 4th.

dunno a whole lot about the others but doesn't look like there are any soft touches.

here are chip counts and final table seating arrangement. just noticed Demidov is sitting directly on Rheem's right. that's pretty big, if there's one player at the table I'd want postion on, it's Rheem.

    Seat 1: Dennis Phillips — 26,295,000
    Seat 2: Craig Marquis — 10,210,000
    Seat 3: Ylon Schwartz — 12,525,000
    Seat 4: Scott Montgomery — 19,690,000
    Seat 5: Darus Suharto — 12,520,000
    Seat 6: David "Chino" Rheem — 10,230,000
    Seat 7: Ivan Demidov — 24,400,000
    Seat 8: Kelly Kim — 2,620,000
    Seat 9: Peter Eastgate — 18,375,000

Didn't came across much of the final 9 during my travels, only played with Kelly Kim for an hour and Eastgate for a short stint at the end of one of the days. I remember feeling creeped out by him cause he kept smirking and loling to himself and reminded me of that inbred banjo kid from Deliverance.
Anyway I think you're right the Russian and Dane look good. Also I imagine Craig got a ton of coaching from Raptor cause of his invested interest so he could be worth a punt if hes still there when its shorthanded.

lol I thought the very same when I played with him in the IO

Bit of gossip re Demidov, Channing told me at IWF that a guy in the vic staked him on 75/25 staker holding the 75%

theres a few minutes left of the 120k/240k - 30k level and then jumps to 150k/300k level for 2 hours.

ugh horrible agreement, this is why I'd never want to be staked into tournaments. The thought of handing over 6.5 million+ if he takes it down turns my stomach. Although he'll make a good bit back through sponsorship.

and when I say "a good bit back" Ive absolutely no idea what Im talking about but its probably somewhere between $0-$6.5million

its a sick thought paying out that much ok, but the other side is 25% of a lot is better 100% of nothing if he wasn't going to play without the stake

My moneys on chino rheem or craig marquis

I hope Philips wins, he seems like a decent guy. (not the best player by any stretch, but all the other players have managed to piss me off with their ontable antics at some point)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,454 ✭✭✭TripleAce

I got 80€ on Ivan and..... 20€ on Kelly Kim :D

If neither of them wins, then I'd fancy Philips to win.....he just seem a more modest person than the others.

Mr Luckbox Chino Rheem won't get lucky forever!

think espn classic are showing coverage the following weekend. think it's been a good idea myself putting it back, definitely creates more of a buzz about

Well insofar as I've been watching the WSOP episodes, and following the money trail on the exchanges, it certainly won't be Rheem.

I say that assuming that the inordinate amount of luck he has enjoyed over the past dozen episodes cannot last. Spiking the Queen to stay in, rivering that K in the most recent airing, and there's plenty more.

    Montgomery or Phillips for me...

lol yeah...he made a river bluff in one of the recent episodes and when the guy made the call he pulled a totally weird face.

Anyone know where I can watch this?

Is it available on sky or online only?

    Thx

from what very limited coverage towards the end of the live updates I watched I thought Phillips was cat

is it the Russian who is running well, came second recently and someone was saying he's basically played three big tournies and finished well in all of them?

What? If you saw the build up to the QQ hand you'd understand why he got it in against KK. The hand he got it in needing to hit that K was totally fine too. Two overcards hardly an inordinate amount of luck. He'd be chip leader if his TT held up against 88 (or was it 99) with two tables left for a ridic big pot.

some people over at 2+2 reckon theres going to be no live feed this year and will have to resort to some audio coverage. ESPN will show the highlights 2 days later.

Gonna have to give boards a miss for a few days till i get it from my cousin, just be nice to watch the final table without knowing who has won.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

Will this be up on PokerTube immediately after ESPN coverage like the other days of the ME?

    mental :
Philips limp reraises, Demidov 4b and Philips flats, bets 1/4 pot and demidov ships and Phillips has to call 8M into 36M and he folds it. Cant wait to see what he had

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,286 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

    AK gone wrong imo

Probably the result of starting as chipleader, making a passive start, getting pushed about a piece and, yes, probably getting cute with AK or a middle pair and concluding that he ran into Demidov's monster.

On the flip, Demidov is clever enough to realize all this and to have made that play with a miss on the flop...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

Sidebet on what they both had? :-P

    Wonder if Barry is right.

Demidov doesnt isolate an utg limper with the short stack in the blinds and then 4bet when Philips re-raised without a huge hand, this was not a move of any sort imo, he had the goods.

Demidov AA or KK, ill be shocked beyond belief if he didnt, Philips AK for sure, or else 33 :)

Yeah Greenstein didn't even mention AK.

Mods can you edit title to give a spoiler warning so we can speak without tags without ruining it for anyone?!
