I just tried to download a D3DX9_37.DLL file for a game.
No sooner did I download it ,did I realise I was in for some trouble.

The file was in my firefox download list ,but after I opened it ,it dissapeared from the download directory.
Now I can't find it on my machine ,it's somewhere

Any help with be great ,cheers.

if its still in your download list then right click and open folder ?
If its gone from your download list... hmmm. unusual :)
download it again and make sure you save it to somewhere you know (My Documents?)

It's definetly a bogey file. it's not coming up in a search of the exact filename.

I haven't deleted it ,because I couldn't find it in my download folder. I clicked on the filename from my download list in firefox and got into winrar with it ,when I tried to extract to windows\system folder ,winrar gave me an access denied.
    The thing has dissapeared now:mad:

If you downloaded just a .dll file (rather than a .rar or .zip)... id be weary double clicking it.

could consider downloading it from somewhere else ?

I'm using vista hp with sp1.

I went and downloaded the file a second time and opened it in a seperate folder.
I think because I was trying to open the file into the windows\system folder ,the user account control was kicking in and creating an access denied within winrar itself.

I don't know where the file went the first time though.
