    Hey All,

I'm running my Masters again in May but was unable to get the bank holiday weekend this time.

It was suggested to me at Killaraney by a player that it would be better to run the main event at festivals Saturday to Monday, that way only the players in the money would have to take a day off work on Monday instead of everyone taking the day off on Friday for day 1.

Just looking for some feedback on this

I think Friday is a better start day, cause even though I see the point of the Monday thing, you will have a better buzz from Friday - Sunday with the super sat on a Thursday, and also if someone did get to the final table on Monday it might be too late at that point to arrange to take the day off if needed as not everyone has that flexibility.

LETS BE CLEAR HERE, IF WORK TAKES PRECEDENT OVER POKER, THEN THEY REALLY ARE NOT SERIOUS ABOUT THE GAME IN THE 1ST PLACE

THESE PEOPLE NEED TO GET THEIR PRIORITIES RIGHT, C'MON NOW

FRIDAY TO SUNDAY GETS MY VOTE EVERY TIME, SUPER SAT ON THURSDAY EVENING

AS AN EMPLOYER MYSELF, I WOULD TOTALLY UNDERSTAND A GUY TAKING OFF FRIDAY FOR POKER, I WOULD ALSO ACCEPT MONDAY OFF IF THE GUY WON IT OR FINISHED REALLY DEEP IN THE MONEY

MONDAY OFF IS JUST A HANGOVER DAY, FOR PEOPLE WHO CONSUME TOO MUCH ALCOHOL, THE LAST LEGAL DRUG

    my 2 cents.

I can book off the friday. It would be a bad idea to phone up on Monday and say ' oh, i can't come in today i'm playing poker and i'm going to win loads of money '

First of all turn off your caps lock for god sake, this is the twentieth time you been asked by everyone.

I think the standard friday - sunday would be better JP, as the work thing goes ppl can plan ahead for the friday off and not the monday on the off chance

i don't really care what day it is on cause i dont have a job..poker moniez ftw..but you might get more people if it was from saturday to monday..there'll only be a few people having to get monday off compared to a few hundred but i don't really know the ins and outs of such matters

i like the friday main event, st side event 1, sun side event 2 normal approach, but as an idea just for discussion's sake:

Friday: Side event 1 - €200 One Day Event
Saturday: Main Event - €500 2 day Event
Sunday: Side Event 2 - €100 One Day Event

With an optional rebuy tourny on Thursday as a satalite - say 50+50, or 30+30 (dont like the idea of satalite entry costing me 20% of entry fee, ie 50+50 for a 500 game).

    just a thought.

edit: jp, have one or 2 dealers looking for work, if you need any for the bruce launch or this PM me or text me.

It was actually me that mention this to JP and I still think its a better idea.

The main event should start on a Saturday at 12pm and play to 2 am (12levels) that night, the Sunday should start at 2pm and if possible play to a finish that night. If not, the final table should be brought back on the Monday evening.

    Advantages.

    1. I think bigger numbers of players as it doesn't effect work unless you make the final table. If it start on a Friday, most people that make the final table late on the Sunday night, would still be taken the Monday off.

    2. Only 9 players have to change plans for works. If you take the Ladbrokes event, 800 players had to take a day off for the Friday.

    3. People should be better prepared for a Saturday start as there not rushing from work or travelling to the event as this can be done on the Friday.

    4. Helps with the costs fo running the event, 1 less day for room hire etc.

    5. Easier to get part-time dealers to work on Saturday.

    Disadvantages.

    1. Monday final table will be less exciting.

    2. Fridays can be easier to get off than Mondays for most people as a lot of companies finish early etc.

    3. Event itself will have no side event on the Saturday, so less of a festival for players. This could be overcome by having a 9pm side event on the Saturday.

I'm sure people can add to these reason, but I do think a Saturday start is better. Personally I dont play many events outside Dublin anymore as I can't take the days off work, so events like the Macue and Wexford etc will be missed and I would love to play these festivals. I have also missed the GUKPT event this year due to the Thur/Fri starts.

I also think Friday starts give a bigger advantage to full-time players...lol

    Hi Jeff,

I've giving Laura a list of numbers and she is sorting the dealers out for the Bruce weekend. I'll give her a buzz and she were she's at with it.

Regards the thread in question, I'm hoping for 250-300 runners for this game and don't think I'll get through the field if I keep the same structure as last year which was a 90 min clock from level 11.

I will keep a close eye on all suggestions made here, I won't be making ny final decision until the end of the month.

Thanks in advance for all feedback

Knowing that there would be play on monday would put me off playing in the first place (unless from 6pm or something) where as if the tournament started at 6 or even 4pm on a friday i would have less hassle getting a few hours off on a friday evening.

make it Sat & Sun where you have to get to a finish on the sunday maybe? Or play a few hours on the Fri night like 8pm start until 2am. thats 6 levels. no bother having it finished on the sunday, easier for everyone.
