Improve skin condition

I've had a look through the forum listings and didn't know where to post this so I thought the ladies would know best.

I've decided I want to try and improve my appearance if you will, be rid of spots and blemishes for good. I wouldn't say I have a serious or even mild case of acne. Bit I do get spots in very obvious places on my face and I can never leave them alone and they turn into unsightly red sores.

I did a bit of reading up on the subject and gather that a good regime would be to exfoliate, use a "2% salicylic acid treatment", then moisturize with an oil free product.

So I had a wandered into the supermarket today and over to the skin products. But there were SO MANY brands and different types of products I didn't know what to do.

I did pick up a Clean and Clear facial scrub exfoliating stuff, but no salicylic acid or oil free moisturizer.

I used the facial scrub in the show 30 mins ago and I just looked in the mirror and I've seem to have dry skin everywhere lol....didn't exactly exfoliate that now did it.

Anyway, I need brand names, products which both moisturize and have the salicylic acid etc.

    Or even your own suggestions.

    Thanks.

I have pretty much the same problems as you. I love garnier pure, it's cheap and i find it good for minimising pores etc, you can buy a 3in1 mask but I wouldn't got for this, try the other scrub which I can't think of the name of but it in a blue tube. Then use the toner and finally the moisturiser, I know it's a cliche but you'll feel it working. Bear in mind, when you start a new face regime, you may end up with alot of spots etc after a couple of days, this is just the toxins in your skin clearing out, don't' think that the product is making it worse as it's not! You should see a difference after about 2 weeks.

Edit: Ha! never copped you were a guy!! so not sure if that my suggestion would be the best?!

My b/f uses Nivea For Men facial scrub and their moisturising face wash. Not sure what the salicylic (spelling?) acid content is but his skin is very good, never has breakouts etc.

If your skin still feels tight or dry afterwards try massaging in a good moisturiser (and one that's suitable for your skin type) for about 1 minute until it's fully absorbed and you should feel much better.

I think this Clean and Clear cleanser is the best...

I don't know what would be the best moisturisor for men but something in the men's section that you can just use a small bit of when your skin feels tight would probably do a good job...

I do think though the odd spot is diet related although it does no harm to get a skincare routine going

Im into the Boots stuff - facial scrub - cleanser and moisturoiser.

Only use the scrub once a week.

My boyfriend had the same problem and is in his late 20's. He went into a specialist place called Dermalogica who figure out what type skin you have in different areas of you face.

He was given samples to see if he liked it and is heading back in Monday to buy the full sizes. They are expensive but last up to 7 months.

Be careful about exfoliating, it can very easily irritate your skin/spots, best to do exfoliate once a week, then maybe use a clay or oatmeal mask to draw the impurities out from your pores before they become spots. Only moisturise when/where feels dry or tight. I use Clinque blemish stuff, they have a super light oil free moisturiser that fights acne. If you can't leave them alone, at least make sure your hands are super clean, use a needle to pop if needed, and a hot towel to soften the spots before going at them! :o
